Abstract

Many studies use plastic waste as an additional material for concrete asphalt mixture. However, mixing temperatures are required between 180oC-200oC so that PET and asphalt become homogeneous. Implementation in the field is not possible to maintain that temperature. This study aims to obtain optimum AC-Base compaction temperature without and with the addition of PET. Composition of aggregate proportions, optimum bitumen content, and levels of addition of PET by Derina Septia Pratiwi data (2018). The variation in compaction temperature is between 100oC-180oC and increases every 10oC. This study refers to the general specifications of the Kementrian Pekerjaan Umum Bina Marga 3rd Revision in 2010. The method used is the wet method. The result, on concrete asphalt without and with the addition of PET the value of density, VFA, stability, and MQ increases with increasing compaction temperature, while the value of VIM, VMA, and flow decreases. Conventional AC-Base can be compacted at a minimum temperature of 140oC with optimum compaction temperature at 150oC, while the temperature of 160oC becomes the minimum and optimum compaction temperature for modified AC-Base.
