Abstract

The smoothness of the evacuation process is influenced by many factors, one of which is the population response (human cognitive behavior). Some previous studies found that behavior has a large impact on evacuation time and often results in fatalities. To minimize the risk of behavior during the evacuation process, the implementation of evacuation drills needs to be carried out regularly. But the direct evacuation drills often encounter many obstacles, so in this study the development of computer-based simulations using agent-based modeling and simulation for risk minimize evacuation drill directly. In developing the model, data collection and processing is carried out using the Netlogo software. Data collection begins by identifying behavior from previous research and questionnaires distributed to occupants of high-rise buildings to see cognitive behavior, familiarity and the level of knowledge of residents. The results showed there were 8 possible pre-evacuation phase behaviors, 3 movement phase behaviors, and 3 waiting phase behaviors. In the initial simulation the evacuation time was 100 minutes and found that the behavior had a large impact on the total evacuation time. The pre-evacuation phase includes the phase with the largest time contribution during the evacuation process which is 71%. The simulation results also found three dominant behaviors most affect the evacuation time is the behavior of the verification, follow the path and queuing. Then the scenarios design on the level of familiarity and knowledge, show that the higher the value of familiarity and knowledge occupant evacuation process runs faster.
