Abstract

Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) is a routing protocol that is used in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). In MANET, every node in the network can move freely. AODV is used to find the most optimal route to send packets from one node to another. The modification is done on AODV when two nodes in the network move closer to each other and become new neighbors. When that event happens, both nodes will send modified route requests (RREQ) to each other to find whether their new neighbor has a shorter route to the destination node. If such route exists, that route will be selected. From the experiment that has been done, the modified AODV results in higher packet delivery ratio and smaller end-toend delay on average.
