Abstract
Rumah tinggal merupakan suatu perwujudan aktualisasi diri dari pengguna yang bertahan dalam kurun waktu yang cukup lama. Maka dari itu ekspresi wujud eksterior, penataan ruang, ekspresi material, dan skala yang digunakan secara tidak langsung merepresentasikan identitas pengguna dan makna dari hasil akhir arsitektur yang muncul. Definisi sekolah dari pada masa awal ia berdiri merupakan sebuah ruang dimana proses pertukaran pikiran antara pengajar yang memiliki disiplin ilmu tertentu dengan yang diajara yang berharap akan mempelajari ilmu yang akan diajarkan oleh si pengajar. Dari definisi tersebut katergori antara pengajar dan yang diajar terdiri dari bermacam-macam karakter. Begitu pula ruang yang menaunginya. Dengan menggunakan narrative approach ekspresi arsitektur dari suatu ruang sekolah dapat diwujudkan menjadi suatu identitas yang menjadi karakter pengguna sekolah tersebut. Untuk proyek preschool yang akan dibahas berawal dari proyek riil yang dimiliki oleh suatu institusi Pendidikan di Surabaya yaitu Intan Permata Hati.

Therefore, the planning of the exterior and interior expression, spatial organization, material expression, and proper use of scale inexplicably represents the user and constructs a meaningful representation from the final organization of the architecture Definition of school at its first principle is a space where a transfer of knowledge from a person with an abundance of specific knowledge to a person who is willing to learn from the knowledge-abundant person. From the first principle of the definition, the characteristic of users, varies between the student or the teacher, could become a starting point to define the architectural expression of the “school” typology.
