Abstract

The diversity of regional functions and activities as well as the need for balance of supply and demand for resources make Sukoharjo Regency requires land use optimization direction through ecological footprint. This analysis approach is to measure carrying capacity of the land based on components of bio-capacity or availability of productive land, ecological footprint or land consumption, and ecological deficits. These research variables are population, crop land, grazing land, inland fish, forest land, carbon, and infrastructure. The phases of this research start from the calculation of bio-capacity (demand), ecological footprint (supply), balance of ecological deficits, and direction optimization. The study compared the existing land in 2017, the ecological footprint in 2017, the plan of spatial patterns in 2031 (RTRW Sukoharjo 2011-2031), and forecasting on the ecological footprint in 2031. The results showed that Sukoharjo Regency surplus at level 1 with an ecological deficit of 3,480,947 Gha or 3.96 Gha/capita. Bio-capacity of land is greater than 186% of 150% of its ecological footprint. The bio-capacity of the region is still able to meet population consumption needs and surplus land can supply the needs of other regions with deficit conditions. Population growth needs to be pressed to 1.01% to stay balanced in the allocation of land according to the pattern of the RTRW of Sukoharjo Regency until the year 2031.
