Abstract

Kegiatan proses produksi energi listrik dengan menggunakan bahan bakar batu bara dimulai dari proses pembentukan energi panas menjadi energi mekanik yang akan menggerakan turbin dan generator menghasilkan listrik. Beberapa unit proses kegiatan menghasilkan emisi yang dapat menimbulkan dampak lingkungan. Emisi yang dihasilkan antara lain CO2, CH4, N2O, SOx, NOx, dan Particulate Matter (PM). Emisi tersebut berpotensi meningkatkan pemanasan global dan penurunan kualitas udara yang berdampak pada lingkungan dan manusia. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi dampak yang terjadi dari kegiatan produksi energi listrik dengan batu bara menggunakan pendekatan Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). LCA merupakan metode analisis yang digunakan untuk mengevaluasi dan membandingkan dampak lingkungan dari suatu produk. Identifikasi dampak lingkungan tersebut dilakukan dengan menggunakan software SimaPro 8.5.2. Adapun siklus kegiatan produksi batu bara yang dianalisis meliputi coal bunker, coal mill, boiler, turbin dan generator. Hasil perhitungan beban emisi didapatkan pada proses produksi unit boiler pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU) di PT. PJB UBJ O&M PLTU PAITON Probolinggo yaitu sebesar 1,085 kgCO2/kWh; 1,01 x 10-5 kgCH4/kWh; 1,52 x 10-5 kgN2O/kWh; 3,18 x 10-4 kgSOx/kWh; 1,12 x 10-4 kgNOx/kWh; 1,19 x 10-5 kgPM/kWh. Sedangkan analisis pada SimaPro 8.5.2 menghasilkan besarnya dampak lingkungan yang terjadi dari kegiatan yang dianalisis seperti global warming 100a, ecotoxicity, smog, acidification, carcinogenic, respiratory effect, fossil fuel depletion, dan eutrophication. Dampak paling besar berasal dari proses produksi akibat adanya kegiatan pada unit boiler yaitu sebesar 91,2%. Setelah diketahui dampaknya maka dilakukan analisa alternatif yang dapat digunakan pada masing-masing kegiatan. Alternatif perbaikan yang dapat diterapkan pada PT. PJB UBJ O&M PLTU PAITON Probolinggo ada 3 yaitu subtitusi biodiesel sebagai bahan bakar start up boiler, penggantian boiler superkritikal dan penggantian sistem boiler pressurized bed fludized combustion (PFBC). Alternatif ini dapat menurunkan dampak yang terjadi pada proses produksi listrik di PT. PJB UBJ O&M PLTU Probolinggo.

The production process of electricity by using coal started from the process of forming heat energy into mechanical energy which will drive turbines and generators to produce electricity. Some activities produce emissions that can cause environmental impacts. Emissions produced include CO2, CH4, N2O, SOx, dan Particulate Matter (PM). These emissions have the potential to increase global warming and decrease air quality which affects the environment and human. This study identifies the impacts that occur from the activities of electricity production with coal using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach. LCA is an analytical meethod that used to evaluate and compare the environmental impact of a product. Identification of environmental impacts are carried out using the SimaPro 8.5.2 software. The cycles of coal production activities analyzed include coal bunkers, coal mills, boilers, turbines, and generators. The results of the calculation of the emission are obtained in the production process of the steam power plant boiler unit at PT. PJB UBJ O&M PLTU PAITON Probolinggo is sebesar 1,085 kgCO2/kWh; 1,01 x 10-5 kgCH4/kWh; 1,52 x 10-5 kgN2O/kWh; 3,18 x 10-4 kgSOx/kWh; 1,12 x 10-4 kgNOx/kWh; 1,19 x 10-5 kgPM/kWh. While the analysis on SimaPro 8.5.2 generates the value of environmental impacts that occur from activities analyzed such as global warming 100a, ecotoxicity, smog, acidification, carcinogenic, respiratory effect, fossil fuel depletion, and eutrophication. The biggest impact comes from the production process due to the activities of the boiler unit which is equal to 91.2%. after the impact is known, an alternative analysis can be used in each activities. Alternative improvements that can be applied to PT. PJB UBJ O&M Probolinggo PAITON PLTU, There are 3 namely biodiesel substitution as start-up boiler fuel, supercritical boiler replacement and replacement of pressurized fluidized combustion (PFBC) boiler system. This alternative can reduce the impact that occurs in the electricity production process at PT. PJB UBJ O & M Probolinggo PLTU.
