Abstract
Zat toksik dapat berupa zat organik maupun anorganik. Zat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah ammonium yang berasal NH4Cl beserta zat organik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu : glukosa mewakili zat organik biodegradable dan formaldehid mewakili zat organik non-biodegradable. Tujuan penelitian ini menentukan tingkat toksisitas efek (EC50) NH4+, zat organik biodegradable (glukosa) dan zat organik non-biodegradable (formaldehid) menggunakan bakteri Nitrosomonas europaea dan tumbuhan eceng gondok serta efisiensi removal dari ketiga toksikan diatas berdasarkan toxicity unit (TU).
Penelitian ini terdiri dari beberapa tahapan yaitu : karakterisasi lindi TPA Benowo, Range Finding Test, uji efek campuran. Karakterisasi lindi TPA Benowo untuk mengetahui konsentrasi amonium, formaldehid dan glukosa yang akan diinginkan. Tahap range finding test maupun uji efek campuran dilakukan selama 4 hari baik pada tumbuhan maupun bakteri. Untuk tumbuhan dilakukan sistem batch reaktor dengan parameter yang diamati adalah tumbuhnya tunas baru, sedangkan untuk bakteri dilakukan uji respirasi, dengan parameter yang diamati adalah penurunan volume air dalam gelas ukur terbalik.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan efisiensi removal glukosa, ammonium dan formaldehid dalam campuran berdasarkan toxicity unit secara berturut-turut terhadap eceng gondok adalah 8,74%, 10,88% dan 97,8%. Efisensi removal glukosa, ammonium dan formaldehid dalam campuran berdasarkan toxicity unit secara berturut-turut terhadap biota nitrosomonas europaea adalah 4.6%, 2,7% dan 98%.

Toxic substances can be either organic or inorganic substances. Substances used in this study are ammonium derived from NH4Cl along with organic substances used in this study, namely: glucose represents biodegradable organic substances and formaldehyde represents non-biodegradable organic matter. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of toxicity effects (EC50) NH4+, biodegradable organic substances (glucose) and non-biodegradable organic matter (formaldehyde) using Nitrosomonas europaea bacteria and water hyacinth plants as well as removal efficiency of the above three toxics based on toxicity unit (TU).
This study consisted of several stages, namely: TPA Benowo leach characterization, Range Finding Test, mixed effect test. Characterization of Benowo landfill leachate to determine the concentration of ammonium, formaldehyde and glucose to be desired. The range finding test and mixed effect test stages were carried out for 4 days in both plants and bacteria. For plants, a batch reactor system is carried out with the parameters observed are the growth of new shoots, while for the bacteria a respiration test is performed, with the parameters observed being a decrease in the volume of water in a reverse measuring cup.
The results showed the efficiency of glucose, ammonium and formaldehyde removal in the mixture based on successive toxicity units on water hyacinth biota was 8,74%, 10,88% and 97,8%. Glucose removal, ammonium and formaldehyde removal in mixtures were based on successive toxicity units The contribution of nitrosomonas europaea biota was 4.6%, 2,7% and 98%.
