Abstract
Kabupaten Sidoarjo merupakan kabupaten yang memiliki warisan bersejarah pada kawasan kota lamanya, kawasan ini merupakan cikal bakal terbentuknya Kabupaten Sidoajo. Di kawasan Kota Lama ini terdapat sekitar 39 bangunan kuno yang memiliki sejarah penting dalam pembentukan kabupaten Sidoarjo, akan tetapi bangunan-bangunan kuno tersebut mengalami degradasi bangunan karena ditinggalkan dan juga karena aktivitas perdagangan dan jasa yang terus berkembang sehingga menyebabkan eksistensi dari kota lama ini memudar. Karena permasalahan-permasalahan tersebut, dikhawatirkan eksistensi dari kota lama ini akan menghilang, sehingga diperlukan upaya maupun strategi untuk melestarikan kawasan kota lama ini agar tetap terpelihara dan terjaga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi pelestarian Kota Lama Gajah Mada. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, terdapat beberapa sasaran yang harus dicapai, yaitu : 1). Mengidentifikasi karakteristik Kawasan Kota Lama Gajah Mada dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif; 2). Mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor internal dan eksternal berdasarkan aspek-aspek yang mempengaruhi pelestarian Kawasan Kota Lama Gajah Mada dengan menggunakan content analysis; dan 3). merumuskan strategi pelestarian Kawasan Kota Lama Gajah Mada dengan menggunakan analisis SWOT. Hasil dari penelitian ini menghasilkan 10 strategi yang didapatkan dari analisis SWOT.

Sidoarjo Regency is a district that has a historic heritage in the old town area, this area is the forerunner to the establishment of Sidoajo Regency. In this Old City area there are about 39 ancient buildings that have an important history in the formation of the Sidoarjo district, but the old buildings were degraded due to abandonment of buildings and also because of trade and service activities which continued to develop which caused the existence of the old city to fade. Because of these problems, it is feared that the existence of this old city will disappear, so that efforts and strategies are needed to preserve this old city area to be maintained and maintained. This study aims to formulate a conservation strategy for Kota Lama Gajah Mada City. To achieve these objectives, there are several goals that must be achieved : 1). Identify the characteristics of the Old City of Gajah Mada by using descriptive analysis; 2). Identifying internal and external factors based on aspects that affect the preservation of the Old City Area of Gajah Mada using content analysis; and 3). formulating a conservation strategy for the Gajah Mada Old Town Area using a SWOT analysis. The results of this research produce 10 strategy obtained from SWOT Analysis.
