Abstract

Car became one of the useful things for human everyday activity. However, driving activity can be risky and harmful for the example like an accident. An accident can be caused by many things, from this research the accident cause is divided into two factors, it is technical factors and non-technical factors. Technical factors are related into how to operate the vehicle and do some maneuvers with it. While the non-technical factors are related to how human understand about the fundamental and the regulations while driving a car.

In this research, was used a technology named virtual reality as known as VR. That technology usually used for doing some experiment for several participant, and it gave higher immersive and the simulation feels real. In the experiment, there were various scenario that describe the real driving condition in Indonesia. That scenario obtained from the result of combination several factors that can affect driving activity like weather, time, and traffic condition. Wheater was divided into two parts, which are fine and rainy, and for time factors was divided into morning and nighttime, and for the last are quiet traffic and crowded traffic. Participant who did the simulation were also divided according to gender and experience, namely moderate and expert. During simulation, research was conducted on number of errors, accumulation error, non-technical factors, and motion sickness score as well. Oculus rift was used for doing this experiment. From the result of the research, using multi-variate ANOVA method with SPSS 22 application, obtained the result by paying attention to significance number. From using that method, the factor that affect accumulation error is experience of participant, and the factor that affect motion sickness score is gender of participant. For the understanding of fundamental while driving of participant is 68% from the result of questionnaire. Reviewed from the experiment results, the best scenario with the smallest number of errors is scenario with fine weather at nighttime with quiet traffic.
