Abstract
Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) merupakan pengembangan dari Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) dimana node memiliki karakteristik dengan mobilitas yang tinggi dan energi yang terbatas. Ada banyak routing protocol yang dapat diimplementasikan pada VANETs, salah satu routing protocol yang populer adalah Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV). Namun routing protocol AODV kurang mampu menjaga kestabilan komunikasi antar kendaraan sehingga routing protocol AODV perlu dimodifikasi. Modifikasi yang akan dilakukan, yaitu pada mekanisme pencarian rute menggunakan algoritma Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) untuk memilih node tetangga. Node tetangga diseleksi berdasarkan kekuatan sinyal yang diterima dan energi tersisa pada node tersebut. Node tetangga yang terpilih akan melakukan penghitungan nilai pheromone. Rute yang memiliki nilai pheromone tertinggi adalah rute yang akan digunakan. Pada Tugas Akhir ini, uji coba dilakukan menggunakan skenario grid dan real dengan tiga variasi perubahan berupa jumlah node, kecepatan dan interval pengiriman paket. Routing protocol AODV yang telah dimodifikasi menghasilkan performa terbaik dibandingkan dengan routing protocol AODV pada skenario real dengan variasi jumlah node. Pada uji coba skenario real, routing protocol AODV yang telah dimodifikasi mengalami peningkatan sebesar 4,13% pada nilai rata-rata Throughput dan 8,63% pada nilai rata-rata Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) serta mengalami penurunan sebesar 26,41% pada nilai rata-rata End-to-End Delay (E2E), 10,18% pada nilai rata-rata Routing Overhead, dan 9,42% pada nilai rata-rata Forwarded Route Request.

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are an imporvement of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) which have high mobility node characteristic and limited energy. There are many routing protocols that can be implemented on VANETs, one of the popular routing protocols is Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV). However AODV routing protocol is less capable to maintain the stability of vehicle-to-vehicle communication so that AODV routing protocol needs to be modified. The part that will be modified, namely on the route discovery mechanism using Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm to select intermediate nodes. Intermediate nodes are selected based on received signal strength and residual energy on the node. Selected intermediate node will calculate pheromone value. The route which has the highest pheromone value that will be used. In this final project, the simulation is carried out using grid and real scenario with three variations in the form of number of nodes, speed, and interval of packet delivery. Modified AODV routing protocol produces the best performance compared with AODV routing protocol in a scenario with varying number of nodes. In the simulation of real scenario, modified AODV routing protocol has increased by 4.13% on the average value of Throughput and 8.63% on the average value of Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) and has decreased by 26.41% on the average value of End-to-End Delay (E2E), 10.18% on the average value of Routing Overhead, and 9.42% on the average value of Forwarded Route Request.
