Abstract

Based on the ITS 2018 Curriculum, basic science courses are compulsory subjects taken by students in each department including categories I and II. The reason is that basic science courses are considered to be able to influence student thinking that is comprehensive. The problem is whether this is true, if it is true then the student GPA in the DSB group (the Department that requires basic science courses) is better than students in the Non-DSB group (Departments that do not require basic science courses), besides that the learning process in the DBS group is more capable than the Non-DBS group. The learning process is said to be capable if the process is statistically controlled, Cp and Cpk index is more than one. This study aims to determine whether there are significant differences in GPA between DBS and Non-DBS. By using the T Test, the average Non-DBS Student GPA (3.34) is greater than the DBS Student GPA (3.20). The ANOVA (Analysis of Variances) method shows that there are significant differences between DBS and Non-DBS and with the Capability Analysis Process the results of the learning process capabilities in all Departments in the DBS and Non-DBS groups are not capable because the learning process is not controlled even though There are more than one Cp or Cpk index.
