Abstract
Baja tahan karat atau stainless steel AISI 304 merupakan material yang mengandung senyawa besi dengan komposisi setidaknya 10,5% kromonium untuk mencegah terjadinya korosi, dilakukannya pengujian pengaruh variasi media pendingin ini untuk mengetahui sifat sifat dari baja tahan karat AISI 304 ini. Pada pengujian ini menggunakan baja tahan karat AISI 304. Dilaku panas tidak setimbang dengan waktu penahanan 60 menit. Dalam hal ini menggunakan variasi media pendingin (air + garam 10%, air, air + minyak, minyak, udara). Penelitian ini meliputi pengujian struktur mikro, weight loss, dan kekerasan. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendinginan dengan media udara banyak presipitat sehingga menyebabkan korosi pada daerah batas butir, dan banyaknya berat yang terbuang akibat korosi yang diterima. Dan hasil pengujian kekerasan tertinggi didapat pada pendinginan dengan media air + garam 10% yaitu 100 HRB.

And the highest test results of hardness were obtained by cooling with 10% water + salt media, 100 HRB.
