Abstract
Teknik pengelasan saat ini telah dimanfaatkan dan digunakan secara luas dalam berbagai bidang, terutama dalam proses penyambungan batang-batang pada konstruksi struktur yang berbahan dasar baja dan juga konstruksi dalam bidang permesinan. Hal ini disebabkan karena pengelasan memiliki proses yang lebih sederhana, sehingga mampu menekan biaya produksi. Selain itu, pengelasan juga merupakan kunci teknologi dalam berbagai pembangunan struktur baja, seperti kapal, jembatan, hingga automobile. Meskipun demikian, terjadinya distorsi akibat pengelasan adalah hal yang sangat sulit dihindari, karena tidak ratanya proses pemanasan dan pendinginan yang terjadi pada objek las. Selain itu, distorsi juga disebabkan karena terbentuknya lonjakan tegangan (tegangan sisa) selama proses pengelasan. Untuk memperbaiki distorsi, metode fairing merupakan suatu metode pemanasan pada pelat dengan dialiri air untuk meluruskan kembali pelat baja yang telah mengalami distorsi. Salah satu metode fairing yang sering digunakan adalah spot heating. Dengan melaksanakan metode fairing dengan pemberian titik pemanasan setempat/lokal (spot heating) diharapkan dapat mengurangi distorsi yang dialami pelat baja akibat pengelasan. Berdasarkan hasil dari validasi data eksperimen dan numerik, pemberian spot heating sebanyak 52 buah pada spesimen mampu memperkecil distorsi yang terjadi akibat pengelasan.

Nowadays, welding technique has been utilized and used widely in various fields, especially in the process of connecting the rods on the construction of structures based on steel and also construction in machining. This is because welding has a simpler process, so it can suppress production costs. In addition, welding is also a key technology in various construction of steel structures, such as ships, bridges, and automobile. However, the occurrence of welding distortion is very difficult to avoid, as it is a inequality result of the heating and cooling process that occurs in the welding object. In addition, distortion is also caused by the formation of voltage spikes (residual voltages) during the welding process. To correct the distortion, the fairing method is a warming method on the plate with water flowing to straighten the steel plates that have undergone distortion. One method of fairing that is often used is the spot heating. By implementing the fairing method with the provision of local/local warming point (spot heating) can reduce the distortion experienced by welding steel plates. Based on the results of the experimental and numeric data validation, the provision of 52 spot heating in the specimen can minimize the distortion caused by welding.
