Abstract

Perkebunan Syzygium samarangense merupakan salah satu komoditas unggul di Indonesia dengan produktivitas mencapai 6,95 ton/Ha. Proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman jambu sangat sensitif terhadap ketersediaan suplai input air bagi tanaman. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengelolaan air yang tepat melalui pemulsaan yang berfungsi dalam konservasi air tanah dengan mencegah hilangnya air melalui penguapan dari permukaan tanah sehingga akan meningkatkan kelembaban tanah. Selain itu, juga digunakan untuk pengelolaan pemupukan karena mampu mencegah terjadinya kehilangan nutrisi pada media/tanah melalui pencucian. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui karakter ekofisiologi tanaman jambu air varietas madu deli terhadap pemulsaan berbahan plastik transparan, serta pengaruh pemulsaan berbahan plastik transparan terhadap kandungan nitrogen daun dan produktivitas tanaman jambu air varietas madu deli. Metode yang dilakukan meliputi pengukuran faktor fisik lingkungan, pemilihan tanaman uji, perlakuan pemulsaan media tanam, pengamatan karakter ekofisiologi dan hasil produktivitas tanaman, pengukuran SPAD Meter, persiapan sampel tanah uji, penentuan kadar unsur N media dengan metode Kjeldahl, dan penentuan kadar air media dengan uji gravimetri. Data akan dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif berdasarkan nilai yang diperoleh dari masing-masing parameter uji. Hasil penelitian menujukkan perlakuan pemulsaan berbahan plastik transparan memiliki nilai rata-rata yang lebih tinggi pada parameter yang diuji, yaitu tinggi tanaman, LAI, LMA, jumlah bunga, kandungan klorofil, dan kandungan nitrogen daun jika dibandingkan dengan perlakuan tanpa pemulsaan.

Syzygium samarangense orchrads is one of the superior commodities in Indonesia with productivity reaching 6.95 tons/Ha. The process of growth and development of wax apple plants is very sensitive to the availability of supply inputs water for plants. Therefore, proper water management is needed through mulching which functions in the conservation of ground water by preventing the loss of water through evaporation from the ground so that it will increase soil moisture. In addition, it is also used for the management of fertilization because it can prevent the loss of nutrients in the soil through leaching. The aim of this study was to determine the ecophysiological characteristics of wax apple plants of deli honey varieties to transparent plastic mulching, and the effect of transparent plastic mulching on foliar nitrogen content and productivity of wax apple plants of deli honey varieties. The methods include measurement of environmental physical factors, selection of plants sample, treatment of mulching soil, observation of ecophysiological characters and yields of plant productivity, measurement of SPAD meters, preparation of soil samples, determination of N media content with the Kjeldahl method, and determination of soil moisture content with Gravimetric test. Data will be analyzed descriptively quantitatively based on the values obtained from each test parameter. The results showed that the mulching treatment made from transparent plastic had a higher average value in the each parameters, namely plant height, LAI, LMA, number of flowers, chlorophyll content, and foliar nitrogen content when compared with treatment without mulching.
