Abstract
Pentingnya sektor kemaritiman bagi bangsa Indonesia telah disadari sepenuhnya oleh para founding fathers ITS. Pada tanggal 24 Maret 2011 berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi No. 55/E/O/2011 Transportasi Laut dinyatakan resmi sebagai Jurusan Transportasi Laut dengan Program Studi Sarjana Transportasi Laut. Pada tanggal 24 juni 2011. Sejalan dengan transformasi ITS menjadi PTNBH, Jurusan Transportasi Laut berubah menjadi Departemen Teknik Transportasi laut. Departemen Teknik Transportasi Laut (DTTL) atau yang sering disebut Departemen Seatrans berlokasi di gedung W Lantai 2, Kampus ITS, Sukolilo Surabaya, dan berada dalam lingkup gedung Fakultas Teknologi Kelautan. Karena tergolong departemen yang masih muda DTTL ITS belum memiliki gedung sendiri sehingga beberapa ruangan berada pada bangunan yang terpisah dan memiliki akses yang berbeda, dan yang perlu dilengkapi seperti ruang menggambar dan ruang baca departemen sehingga mahasiswa terkendala dalam kegiatan akademiknya, namun DTTL ITS senantiasa mengembangkan diri dalam upaya peningkatan kapasitas (capacity building) dengan pembangunan gedung perkuliahan baru, dan terus berupaya memperluas jejaring baik nasional maupun internasional. Pendekatan interaktif yang diterapkan pada desain gedung perkuliahan yang baru bertujuan untuk menarik minat mahasiswa dalam menggunakan sarana dan fasilitas yang disediakan gedung baru DTTL, serta mendukung perwujudan capaian seperti menghasilkan lulusan berkualitas global sesuai yang diharapkan departemen.

March 24, 2011 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 55/ E / O / 2011 Sea Transportation is officially declared as the Department of Sea Transportation with the Bachelor of Sea Transportation Study Program. On June 24, 2011. ITS transforming into PTNBH, the Sea Transportation Department turned into the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering. Department of Marine Transportation Engineering (DTTL) placed in 2nd Floor, ITS Campus, Sukolilo Surabaya, and in accordance with the Faculty of Marine Technology building supported by FTK. Because it is classified as a young department, DTTL ITS does not yet have its own building, as well as several different rooms, and does not yet have facilities such as the drawing room and reading room of the department so students are constrained in their academic fields, but DTTL ITS constantly develops in capacity building construction of new lecture buildings, and continues to increase adding networks both nationally and internationally.
The interactive support applied to the design of the new lecture building was proposed to attract students' interest in using the facilities and facilities provided by the new DTTL building, supporting increased productivity on campus, and improving the quality of students to support the realization of achievements, such as providing, providing according to the department's expectations .
