Abstract

In Indonesia, offshore platforms are dominated by fixed platforms with an average operating period of more than 20 years. Therefore, fatigue life in offshore structures must be known to anticipate one of the main causes of failure of a structure, especially offshore. In this research, the analysis of fatigue life on a fixed platform using a fracture mechanics method will be carried out. The structure used as the object of research is XA-Pro Platform owned by Pertamina EP. The structure will be analyzed locally after fatigue life is known globally by the method of cumulative damage. In the analysis using the fracture mechanics method begins by determining the joint critical in the structure that has the lowest fault fatigue life due to environmental loads with the help of software. Then the crack propagation analysis at the joint critical was carried out with the Paris Law equation modified by Barsom (1999) on the Variable Amplitude Load condition, so that the fatigue life of the structure was obtained using the fracture mechanics method. From the analysis results obtained by platform fatigue life of 0.51 years using the fracture mechanics method, where the fatigue life is lower than using the cumulative damage method. So that it can be concluded, in the presence of cracks the structure's fatigue life is reduced.
