Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data kesetimbangan cair-cair system quartener kesetimbangan cair-cair sistem quartener water + 1-propanol + DEC + toluene pada suhu 303.15 dan 313.15 K dan tekanan atmosfer. Peralatan utama dari eksperimen ini yaitu equilibrium cell yang dilengkapi dengan jaket penukar panas. Eksperimen ini diawali dengan memasukkan sampel ke dalam equilibrium cell dengan komposisi tertentu dan diaduk dengan magnetic strirrer selama 4 jam. Air dari water bath dengan suhu tertentu disirkulasikan ke dalam jaket untuk menjaga suhu di dalam equilibrium cell konstan. Setelah itu larutan didiamkan selama 20 jam sehingga fase organic dan aqueous terpisah secara sempurna. Sampel fase organik dan aqueous diambil secara terpisah untuk dianalisa komposisinya sebagai komposisi kesetimbangan. Komposisi dari masing-masing fase dianalisis menggunakan Gas Chromatography 2010 Plus. Penelitian diulangi untuk komposisi awal yang berbeda agar diperoleh tie line atau model kurva yang terdistribusi secara merata pada range komposisi kesetimbangan. Data hasil eksperimen kemudian dikorelasikan dengan persamaan Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) dan Universal Quasi-Chemical (UNIQUAC) yang memberikan Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) dari komposisi kesetimbangan masing – masing sebesar 1.32 % dan 1.16 %.

The objective of this study was to determine experimentally liquid-liquid equilibrium data for ternary system water + 1-propanol + DEC + toluene at temperature 303.15 and 313.15 K and atmospheric pressure. The main experimental apparatus is the equilibrium cell equipped with heat exchanger jacket. The experiment was started by adding ternary mixture into equilibrium cell with certain composition. Temperature in the equilibrium cell were controlled to certain equilibrium temperature by circulating water from water bath into heat exchanger jacket. Afterwards, the sample was stirred by magnetic stirrer for 4 hour and it was allowed to settle for 20 hours in order to be completely separated into organic and aqueous phases. The composition of each phase were analyzed using Gas Chromatography 2010 Plus. The experiments were repeated for different initial composition to obtain tie line or curve model distributed well in the range of equilibrium composition. The experimental data were correlated using Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) and Universal Quasi-Chemical (UNIQUAC) giving Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) between experimental composition are calculated ones of 1.32 % dan 1.16 %.
