Abstract

The ship has the main function as a means of transport for crossing by sea. General things that are transported on ships are humans, equipment and resources that can support human life such as petroleum, war equipment, wheeled vehicles and livestock. But when investigated further, it turns out the ship also transports organisms that can damage and pollute the sea. So that it can cause disease in coastal areas, which are potentially affected if there is damage to the local ecosystem. Therefore, a study of the application of the economical and economical port-based ballast water treatment plan system using coagulation treatment and UV radiation is carried out to reduce the impact of the spread of invasive species found on ship ballast water. This research begins with determining the case study location of Tanjung Perak Surabaya port with consideration of data on international shipping vessels. The next step is to design a port based ballast water treatment plan system using the coagulation treatment and UV radiation methods. The final step is to calculate the economic needs of the application of the system from the technical, installation, and maintenance aspects. based on the results of calculations on the coagulation system, the installation costs were Rp. 484.529.333 and operating costs amounted to Rp. 301.811.303 per year, while in the UV system, the installation cost was Rp. 4.030.193.386 and operating costs Rp. 243.100.950 per year.
