Abstract
Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara berkembang dengan tingkat kepadatan penduduk yang cukup tinggi. Hal ini mengakibatkan tingginya pergerakan (traffic generation) manusia dari kota-kota besar menuju daerah tujuan mudik. Pergerakan massal dalam waktu yang bersamaan tersebut pastinya akan menimbulkan permasalahan klasik yaitu kemacetan lalu lintas (dan biasanya dibarengi tinggnya angka kecelakaan). Melihat permasalahan yang terjadi di lapangan, pemerintah tak tinggal diam. Pemerintah berupaya mencari solusi terbaik untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yaitu salah satunya dengan membangun jalan tol Trans Jawa sebagai sarana untuk mengurangi kemacetan. Namun dikali pertama pengoperasiannya pada musim mudik 2018, banyak kendala yang ditimbulkan salah satunya adalah kemacetan, sehingga membuat berbagai pihak khusunya pengguna jalan tol tersebut merasa tidak nyaman dan tidak puas. Maka karena permasalahan tersebut diperlukan rest area. Jika dilihat dari beberapa rest area yang sudah ada khususnya di tol Trans-Jawa Tengah, rest area hanya mementingkan fungsi bangunannya yaitu sebagai tempat beristirahat dan pemenuh kebutuhan bagi pengunjung jalan tol. Sedangkan dari segi estetika rest area di sepanjang jalan tol Trans-Jawa memiliki desain yang hampir serupa sehingga tidak memiliki ciri khas yang membuatnya unik.Selain itu desain rest area kurang memiliki identitas wilayah didirikannya rest area. Perencanaan penulis disini untuk membuat sebuah rest area sebagai tempat istirahat yang dapat memenuhi kebutuhan manusia dan kendaraan sekaligus menjadi idenitas lokalitas. Dengan demikian, rest area dapat menjadi representasi suatu daerah.

Indonesia is one of the developing countries with a high population density. This has resulted in a high level of movement from large cities to the destination areas going home. The mass movement at the same time will surely cause classic problems, namely traffic jams (and usually accompanied by high accident rates). Seeing the problems that occur on the ground, the government does not remain silent. The government is trying to find the best solution to solve the problem, one of which is by building the Trans Java toll road as a means to reduce congestion. However, at the first time of the operation in the 2018 homecoming season, many obstacles were caused, one of which was congestion, which made various parties especially toll road users feel uncomfortable and dissatisfied. So because of these problems a rest area is needed. When viewed from several existing rest areas, especially on the Trans-Central Java toll road, the rest area only emphasizes the function of the building, which is a place to rest and fulfill the needs of toll road visitors. While in terms of the aesthetics of the rest area along the Trans-Java toll road it has a similar design so that it does not have a characteristic that makes it unique. In addition, the design of the rest area lacks the identity of the area established by the rest area. The author's plan here is to create a rest area as a place of rest that can meet human and vehicle needs while becoming a locality identity. Thus, the rest area can be a representation of an area
