Abstract

Karakter oseanografi dan kondisi ekologi habitat seperti karakter fisika-kimia perairan sangat memengaruhi pertumbuhan dan kandungan karaginan rumput laut Kappaphycus alvarezii. Karakter oseanografi yang berkaitan erat dengan K. alvarezii antara lain suhu, arus, pH, salinitas, Disolved Oxygen (DO), nitrat dan fosfat. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan suatu penelitian untuk mengetahui korelasi antara karakter oseanografi dengan kualitas rumput laut K. alvarezii sehingga dapat dijadikan acuan bagi petani K. alvarezii untuk lebih memperhatikan kondisi oseanografi dalam membudidayakan K. alvarezii. Penelitian ini diawali dengan pengamatan dan pengukuran karakter oseanografi secara langsung di lokasi penelitian serta pengambilan sampel air dan sampel rumput laut K. alvarezii. Data hasil penelitian diolah dengan menggunakan bantuan Software SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) versi 16.0 dengan analisis ragam (One Way ANOVA) untuk mendapat karakter yang berpengaruh terhadap kualitas rumput laut.
Berdasarkan hasil analisis: Kecepatan arus, DO, fosfat dan nitrat berkorelasi negatif dengan nilai cukup tinggi (> 0,5) di perairan Lobuk dan Palasa. pH dan salinitas berkorelasi positif dengan nilai tinggi (> 0,7) di perairan Padike, dan karakter oseanografi fisika-kimia di perairan Tonduk berkorelasi positif dengan nilai rendah (< 0,5). Berdasarkan karakter oseanografi di lokasi sampling, kriteria kesesuaian lokasi sebagai lokasi budidaya dapat dikelompokkan menjadi 3, yaitu: kelompok S1/sangat sesuai (perairan Padike), kelompok S2/sesuai (perairan Tonduk), dan kelompk N/ tidak sesuai (perairan Lobuk dan Palasa).

Oceanographic characters and habitat ecological conditions such as physical-chemical characteristics of the waters greatly affect the growth and content of Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed carrageenan. Oceanographic characters that are closely related to K. alvarezii include temperature, current, pH, salinity, Disolved Oxygen (DO), nitrate and phosphate. Therefore, a study is needed to determine the correlation between oceanographic characters and the quality of K. alvarezii seaweed so that it can be used as a reference for farmers K. alvarezii to pay more attention to oceanographic conditions in cultivating K. alvarezii. The study was initiated by observing and measuring oceanographic characters directly at the study site and taking water samples and K. alvarezii samples. The results of the research data were processed using the help of SPSS Software (Statistical Product and Service Solution) version 16.0 with a variety of analysis (One Way ANOVA) to obtain characters that influence the quality of seaweed.
Based on the results of the analysis: Current velocity, DO, phosphate and nitrate are negatively correlated with a high enough value (> 0.5) in Lobuk and Palasa waters. pH and salinity were positively correlated with high values (> 0.7) in Padike waters, and physico-chemical oceanographic characters in the waters of Tonduk were positively correlated with low values (<0.5). Based on oceanographic characters in the sampling location, location suitability criteria as cultivation locations can be grouped into 3, namely: group S1/highly suitable (Padike waters), group S2/suitable (Tonduks waters), and group N/not suitable (Lobuk and Palasa Waters).
