Abstract

Indonesia is the largest rattan producing country in the world, it is estimated that 80% of rattan raw material throughout the world is produced by Indonesia. There is a part of rattan called lesio ati which can also be used as a woven material for rattan which has the ability to absorb natural colors that are good and also elastic. The production of lesio ati in Karangmulya, Cirebon is also abundant, but it is still not widely processed and further developed for a furniture product. This research aims to optimize natural resources for the exploration of rattan webbing. The research method used was experimental starting with trend analysis, interior style analysis, and market analysis and then combined with natural coloring techniques and an exploration of design innovations with cultural values about Papuan icons (Manta, Honai, and Nautillus) to gain market interest in rattan furniture. The results of the study were applied to living room furniture in the form of a three seater sofa, floor lamp, coffee table, and lounge chair that could be produced by small and medium industries.
