Abstract

Electricity needs can vary with consumer demand, so the plant also has a change in load. The change in load also affects the efficiency of a power plant that impacts the comparison between production costs and the amount of production produced, at the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) The load variation is done by controlling the rate of Fuel on boilers and the superheated vapor rate towards the turbine before expansion, the objective of this analysis is to be known at what load the performance of the PLTU can operate optimally. The research methodology used in analyzing the parameters that support cycle performance based on the variation of the load is analysis by ignoring the loss of friction between work fluid and equipment. This analysis also applies to the law of eternity of mass and energy. From the results of the calculation gained that the efficiency of the cycle rises as the load increases, and there is a decrease when the maximum loading is at a load of 100% by 42.27% with a heat rate of 8978.21 kJ/kWh. The most optimal efficiency is in the 75% loading of 43.30 with a 9291 kJ/kWh heat rate, while at 50% it has an efficiency of 41.97% with a 9614.75 kJ/kWh heat rate.
