Abstract

In an era where oil price is at lowest point, oil and gas exploitation required technology innovation to achieve higher efficiency on its operation. The common scheme in the offshore oil and gas exploitation is by using Floating, Processing, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO). FPSO used as processing facility to produce crude oil from produced well fluids, store the produced crude oil and transferred the crude oil to the shuttle tanker prior to its transportation to refinery plant onshore. The common scheme during construction of FPSO is by convert the existing crude tanker, where the crucial part is to construct the processing facility, namely Topside. This study aims to conduct optimization on the Topside facility design with the minimum installation and outfitting requirements. On this study separation module is chosen as study case for equipment layout configuration optimization. Using Facility Layout Problem Formulation, the conventional design is rearranged so that the new design has lower installation requirement. On this study the conventional design on separation module requires 25 x 45 m platform size and requires, with pipeline length requirement as much as 232,336 mm and construction weight as much as 627.974 kg. Optimization of related modules is analyzed by two platform ratio options, namely 1: 1.35 and 1: 1, with each size ratio performed 3 times iteration configuration where the configuration options with the highest scores are obtained at the 1: 1 ratio option with a size of 30 x 30 m. the results of outfitting in the selected configuration showed that the pipe length requirement was reduced to 226,331 mm and the weight requirements for construction were reduced to 564,752 kg. From the Topside optimalization the Dual Row Configuration reduce the deck area occupancy up to 500 m2.
