Abstract

Gas alam merupakan bahan bakar terbersih dan paling ramah lingkungan dengan nilai rasio hidrogen terhadap karbon terbesar. Gas alam mengandung beberapa campuran hidrogen seperti metana, etana, propane, butana dan fraksi yang lebih tinggi. Cryogenic Gas Processing merupakan proses pemisahan gas yang terjadi pada temperatur rendah dimana ditujukan untuk memisahkan gas metana dan etana dari campuran gas alam lainnya. Pengendalian proses merupakan kunci penting untuk menciptakan industry proses yang aman dan menghasilkan keuntungan dari segi ekonomi. Plantwide control (PWC) adalah desain struktur dan strategi kontrol untuk pabrik secara keseluruhan. Metode kontrol yang digunakan pada tugas akhir ini adalah PID untuk regulatory control serta decentralized supervisory control untuk supervisory control. Plantwide control dapat meningkatkan keuntungan pada cryogenic gas processing hingga 52.28 U$/jam saat feed dinaikan 5% dan 57.72 U$/jam saat feed diturunkan 5%. Penerapan PWC pada CGP juga mampu menghasilkan respon sistem yang stabil ketika diberi gangguan berupa perubahan laju aliran umpan. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan penurunan settling time dan maximum overshoot serta menghilangkan error steady-state.

Natural gas (NG) is the cleanest and the most environmentally friendly fossil fuel with the highest hydrogen to carbon (H/C) datio. Natural gas contains several gas like methane, ethane, buthane and another higher fraction. Cryogenic Gas Processing is gas separation process that happen at low temperature which aim to separate methane and ethane from another fraction in natural gas. Process control is a key to create a safe industrial process and gaining profit from economic side. Plantwide control (PWC) is the structure design and control strategy for the whole plant. Control method for this thesis are PID for regulatory control and decentralized supervisory control for supervisory control. PWC is able to increase the profit of CGP up to 53.28 U$/hour (3%) in case adding 5% the feed and 57.72 U$/hour (5.16%) in case reducing 5% the feed. The application of PWC for CGP is also able to produce stable response system when disturbance was given. This phenomenom is showed by the decreasing of settling time and maximum overshoot moreover eliminate steady-state error.
