Abstract
Kebanyakan orang yang berusia lanjut mulai kehilangan kemampuan mengingatnya, yang dikenal dengan istilah Demensia. Demensia sendiri memiliki lingkup yang luas dan terbagi lagi menjadi beberapa penyakit, salah satunya adalah Alzheimer’s Disease atau penyakit Alzheimer. Kebanyakan ODD (Orang Dengan Demensia) kemudian dirawat di rumah dengan keluarganya yang bertindak sebagai caregiver. Saat ini, sumber-sumber informasi yang ada masih kurang sehingga para caregiver tidak dapat mempelajari cara menghadapi ODD dengan optimal. Komik interaktif sebagai media edukasi dalam mengantisipasi ODD Alzheimer dirancang agar dapat membantu para caregiver mempelajari cara yang tepat dalam mengantisipasi ODD dengan cara yang mudah dimengerti. Komik interaktif menjadi media yang dipilih karena cerita disertai gambar-gambar dapat menjelaskan kejadian-kejadian dan informasi yang ada secara komprehensif serta penceritaan yang lebih efektif. Untuk tujuan tersebut, dilakukan pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan metode riset seperti kuesioner, in-depth interview dengan psikiater dan caregiver, studi literatur, dan studi eksperimental untuk segi visual. Hasil analisis data digunakan pada proses pembuatan konsep desain. Hasil perancangan yang dihasilkan berupa aplikasi smartphone Android yang berisi 4 chapter yang memberikan informasi edukasi Alzheimer tahap awal, sedang, dan akhir, serta informasi perawatan diri untuk caregiver. Informasi tersebut bertujuan untuk membantu pembaca menjadi aware akan gejala-gejala Penyakit Alzheimer dan dapat mengantisipasi penurunan kondisi seorang ODD Alzheimer dengan optimal.

Most of the old-aged people start to lose their ability to remember, or often called “senile”. The disease that causes someone to be “senile” is known as Dementia. Dementia itself has a large scope of diseases and can be broken down to a variety of diseases, and one of them is Alzheimer’s Disease. Most of people living with Dementia are taken care of at home with their own families who act as caregivers. Now, there aren’t many sources of information that are available and because of that, caregivers can’t learn the ways to handle the patients optimally. Interactive comic as an education media in anticipating people living with Dementia Alzheimer’s was designed to help caregivers learn the better ways in anticipating people living with Dementia in a convenient way. To achieve that purpose, data gathering was done by methods like questionnaire, in-depth interview with a psychiatric and a caregiver, literature study, and experimental study for the visual aspect. The result of data analysis from the aforementioned methods was used in the process of creating the design concept. The design resulted in an Android smartphone application which consists of 4 chapters that gives information about the first, middle, and last stages of Alzheimer’s, also information about self-care for caregivers. The information aims to help the readers to become more aware about the symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease and to be able to help anticipate worsening of the people living with Dementia’s condition optimally.
