Abstract
Kota Malang adalah salah satu kota yang mempunyai keragaman motif batik, selain budaya panji berupa Topeng Malang. Menurut Dinas Perindustrian Kota Malang, motif batiknya mengalami penambahan motif, namun masih banyak situs yang belum diangkat kedalam motif batik. Untuk mendukung kelestarian kekayaan ragam motif batik Kota Malang diperlukan motif baru yang mengadaptasi dari ikon kota malang seperti Toko Oen, Klenteng Eng An Kiong, dan lain-lain. Perancangan ini menggunakan metode eksperimental untuk menghasilkan desain motif batik yang baru. Metode eksperimental yang dimulai dari observasi ke home industry dan objek yang terkait, depth interview dengan home industry batik kota Malang, mendapatkan studi eksisting berupa desain motif yang telah diproduksi pengrajin kemudian dianalisis. Setelah mendapatkan data, tahap selanjutnya mengeksplorasi motif batik dengan studi eksplorasi yang dimulai dari eksplorasi pola, stilasi, dan warna. Kemudian mengujikan desain ke ahli batik dan seniman Malang. Tahap terakhir yaitu mengujikan desain ke target segmen dengan post test untuk mengetahui tingkat ketertarikan target segmen dan masukan dengan motif batik yang dirancang. Konsep perancangan ini perancangan ini mengangkat kekayaan yang baru dan berbeda dari motif batik sebelumnya. Segi kekayaan yang diambil pada perancangan ini meliputi kekayaan alam, sejarah, budaya, religi dan masyarakat. Hasil perancangan ini adalah kumpulan desain motif batik kota Malang yang barusebanyak 12 desain motif batik tulis, yang terdiri dari 6 batik kontemporer dan 6 batik klasik (tradisional).

Malang City is one of the cities that has a diversity of batik motifs, in addition to the banner culture in the form of Malang Mask. According to the Department of Industry of Malang City, the batik motif has increased motifs, but there are still many sites that have not been taken up into the batik motif. To support the sustainability of the rich variety of Malang City batik motifs, a new motive is needed that adapts from the iconic Malang city such as Toko Oen, Klenteng Eng An Kiong, and others. This design uses experimental methods to produce new batik motif designs. The experimental method that starts from observation to home industry and related objects, depth interviews with the batik home industry in the city of Malang, gets an existing study in the form of design motifs that have been produced by artisans and then analyzed. After getting the data, the next stage explores batik motifs with exploratory studies that begin from exploration of patterns, stylations, and colors. Then test the design to Malang batik experts and artists. The last stage is to test the design to the target segment with a post test to determine the level of interest in the target segment and input with the designed batik motif. This design concept of this design elevates new and different wealth from previous batik motifs. The wealth aspects taken in this design include natural wealth, history, culture, religion and society. The result of this design is a collection of new Malang batik motif designs in 12 designs of batik motifs, which consist of 6 contemporary batik and 6 classical (traditional) batik.
