Abstract
Telah dilakukan modifikasi plant simulator heat exchanger dari plant simulator sebelumnya. Modifikasi yang dilakukan yaitu dengan menambahkan safety pada heater berupa relay. Pada plant simulator Heat Exchanger yang lalu tidak terdapat sistem safetynya. Oleh karena itu,dibuat Safety Integrity System pada plant simulator Heat Exchanger ini. Instrumen pendukung pada simulator plant ini yaitu, relay sebagai aktuator, RTD PT 100 sebagai sensor temperature, ATMega 16 sebagai kontroler. Tujuan dari penambahan relay pada simulator plant heat exchanger ini untuk safety pada heater jika terjadi overheating, sehingga jika terjadi overheating pada heater relay heater sebagai safety akan mematikan heater. Hasil pengujian pengambilan data didapatkan hasil yaitu pada saat temperature melebihi 75 o C dengan waktu 39.24 detik, maka buzzer akan menyala selama 10 detik. Jika tidak ada tindakan maka penambahan relay sebagai safety pada heater akan mematikan heater agar tidak terjadi overheat dan temperature heater akan turun.

Modifications to the plant simulator heat exchanger have been carried out from the previous plant simulator. Modifications made are by adding safety to the heater in the form of a relay. In the previous Heat Exchanger plant simulator there was no safety system. Therefore, Safety Integrity System was made in this Heat Exchanger plant simulator. The supporting instruments in this plant simulator are, relay as actuator, RTD PT 100 as temperature sensor, ATMega 16 as controller. The purpose of adding relays to the plant heat exchanger simulator is to safety the heater in case of overheating, so that if there is an overheating of the heater relay heater as safety will turn off the heater. The results of data retrieval test results show that when the temperature exceeds 75 o C with a time of 39.24 seconds, the buzzer will light for 10 seconds. If there is no action, the addition of a relay as a safety to the heater will turn off the heater to prevent overheating and the heater temperature will drop.
