Abstract

Pegas daun adalah komponen yang berfungsi untuk menerima beban dinamis dan memberikan kenyamanan dalam berkendara. Pegas daun umumnya digunakan kendaraan layanan umum kecil dan kendaraan komersial kecil sifat mekaniknya memburuk sebelum batas usia pegas daun. Untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh pegas daun terhadap kekerasan, kekuatan, dan struktur mikro, maka dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh perlakuan coldwork dan normalizing terhadap pegas daun dengan uji impak, uji kekerasan, dan uji metalografi. Pegas daun dipotong menjadi benda kerja uji kekerasan, uji impak, dan uji metalografi sesuai dengan standart ASTM. Tahap pertama pegas daun dengan tanpa perlakuan di uji kekerasan, uji impak, dan uji metalografi. Kemudian yang kedua pegas daun dengan perlakuan coldwork di uji kekerasan, uji impak, dan uji metalografi. Selanjutnya yang terakhir pegas daun dengan perlakuan coldwork dan normalizing di uji kekerasan, uji impak, dan uji metalografi. Dari hasil pengujian didapati bahwa kekerasan saat diberikan perlakuan coldwork, maka nilai kekerasannya meningkat, yaitu menjadi 48.2 HRC. Sedangkan ketika diberikan perlakuan coldwork dan normalizing, maka nilai kekerasannya menurun atau kembali seperti pegas daun yang tanpa diberi perlakuan, yaitu menjadi 34.5 HRC. Kemudian hasil uji impak menunjukkan bahwa ketika diberikan perlakuan coldwork, maka nilai energi impak dan kekuatan impak nya menurun, yaitu menjadi 134.50 joule dan 1.66 joule/mm2. Sedangkan ketika diberikan perlakuan coldwork dan normalizing, maka nilai energi impak dan kekuatan impaknya meningkat atau kembali seperti pegas daun yang tanpa diberi perlakuan, yaitu menjadi 266.23 joule dan 3.26 joule/mm2. Kemudian hasil pengujian metalografi didapatkan bahwa pegas daun yang dipanaskan selama 1 jam dengan temperature 6000C menghasilkan ferrite dan pearlite dengan pendinginan udara.

Leaf springs are components that function to receive dynamic loads and provide driving comfort. Leaf springs are generally used by small public service vehicles and small commercial vehicles deteriorate before the leaf spring age limit. To find out how the influence of leaf springs on hardness, strength, and microstructure, a study was conducted on the effect of coldwork and normalizing treatments on leaf springs by impact test, hardness test, and metallographic test. Leaf springs are cut into hardness workpieces, impact tests, and metallographic tests according to ASTM standards. The first stage of leaf spring without treatment in the hardness test, impact test, and metallographic test. Then the second leaf spring with coldwork treatment in the hardness test, impact test, and metallographic test. Then the last leaf spring with coldwork treatment and normalizing in hardness test, impact test, and metallographic test. From the test results it was found that the hardness when given coldwork treatment, then the hardness value increased, which is to 48.2 HRC. Whereas when given coldwork and normalizing treatments, the hardness value decreases or returns like a leaf spring without being treated, which is 34.5 HRC. Then the impact test results showed that when given coldwork treatment, the impact energy value and impact strength decreased, which were 134.50 joules and 1.66 joules / mm2. Whereas when given coldwork and normalizing treatment, the value of impact energy and impact strength increased or returned like leaf springs without treatment, which were 266.23 joules and 3.26 joules / mm2. Then the results of metallographic testing showed that leaf springs heated for 1 hour with a temperature of 6000C produced ferrite and pearlite by cooling air.
