Abstract

Car-terminals play an vital role in transporting, storing and distributing vehicles both light, medium and heavy vehicles to various consolidation points and dealers, the closest relative to the city as the location of vehicle users. To achieve the effectiveness and efficiency of vehicle terminal performance in a continuous flow of vehicle supply chains, the selection of business locations and factors in the vehicle terminal at the port needs to be explored and assessed to accommodate the development of vehicle distribution in Indonesia. By using an analytical hierarchy process (AHP), the potential of the location of the vehicle terminal development will be exploration. In detail, the case of developing car terminals in Indonesia has also been studied in depth in applying sustainable factors in supporting vehicle supply chains in Indonesia. Through this research it was found that the location of Sumatra 2 Port had potential in developing vehicle terminals and was followed by Kalimantan 5 Port and Kalimantan 7 Port on the deployment of vehicles to the east of Indonesia. Furthermore finding the most important factors such as the integration of the navigation area around the terminal, the support of multi modal transportation and service reliability of the location of the car terminal are three important factors in establishing vehicle terminal positions in a distribution chain, and determining the choice of alternative locations in similar business development
