Abstract

The brushless DC motor has a high speed, and its speed is affected by the input voltage from the ESC. In the learning process, determining the characteristics of a brushless DC motor requires a load in the form of a magnetic brake. Controlling the magnetic brake on a brushless DC motor also requires a driver. The magnetic brake is made from a non-ferromagnetic metal disc, which is sandwiched between coils carrying electric current. The current in the coil is controlled through a magnetic brake driver connected to an ARM STM32 Controller and regulated through a program. The final project results show that the magnetic brake load setting on the brushless DC motor module can be adjusted using a duty cycle ranging from 0% to 100%, with the motor operating at a maximum speed of 2500 RPM. When the duty cycle is at its maximum range of 100%, the current reading on the current sensor is 4 Amperes.
