Abstract
Terbatasnya ruang untuk gedung perkantoran membuat desain perkantoran tapak-terbuka menjadi solusi efektif untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penggunaan ruang dan meningkatkan produktivitas pekerja. Namun demikian, permasalahan terkait kenyamanan berkomunikasi masih sering ditemukan, seperti minimnya privasi dalam komunikasi akibat minimnya partisi pembatas antar area kerja. Privasi dalam komunikasi merupakan faktor penting lingkungan perkantoran, khususnya untuk studi kasus ruang periksa Poli Audiologi RSUD Dr. Soetomo yang membutuhkan tingkat privasi wicara yang baik agar percakapan pasien dan dokter tidak terdengar di ruangan lain. Terkait permasalahan tersebut, metode sound masking dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan privasi di ruang periksa rumah sakit. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi posisi loudspeaker babble masker terhadap efektivitas masker. Penilaian tingkat privasi wicara didapat dari hasil pengujian objektif dan subjektif dengan menghitung nilai Speech Transmission Index (STI) dan nilai % Correct Words. Pengujian dilakukan dengan mengubah-ubah sudut pemisah loudspeaker masker dengan sumber suara target. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa posisi loudspeaker masker berpengaruh terhadap efektivitas masker. Semakin kecil sudut pemisah antara loudspeaker masker dengan sumber suara target, maka privasi suara target semakin meningkat.

Due to limited spaces for office buildings, open-plan office design is a common solution for using the spaces effectively. This design also increases worker’s productivity. However, problems related to the convenience of communication are still occured, such as the lack of privacy in communication caused by the lack of boundary partitions between work areas. Privacy in communication is an important factor, especially for the Polyclinic Audiology Check Room in RSUD Dr. Soetomo which requires a good level of speech privacy so that conversations between patients and doctors are not heard in other rooms. Related to this problem, the sound masking method can be done to improve the privacy of speech in the hospital check room. The study was conducted to determine the effect of variations on babble masker’s loudspeaker position towards the effectiveness of masker. Assessment of the level of speech privacy was obtained from the results of objective and subjective testing, by calculating the value of Speech Transmission Index (STI) and % Correct Words. Masker testing was done by changing the angle separation between the masker loudspeaker and the target sound source. The results showed that the position of the masker loudspeaker had an effect on the effectiveness of the masker. The smaller the angle of separation between the masker loudspeaker and the target sound source, the privacy of the target sound increased.
