Abstract

Analisa tentang pengendalian laju korosi baja ST 37 dalam medium HCL menggunakan inhibitor buah tomat (Lycopersicum esculentum) telah dilakukan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode potensiodinamik untuk melihat arus korosi, dan metode kehilangan berat untuk melihat nilai laju korosi. Medium korosif yang digunakan adalah HCL. Baja direndam didalam medium korosif dengan penambahan dan tanpa penambahan inhibitor. Variasi konsentrasi yang digunakan adalah 0, 4, 6, dan 8 mg dengan lama perendaman 23 jam. Jenis pengujian yang dilakukan pada analisa ini adalah Potensiodinamik dan weight loss. Semakin besar konsentrasi yang digunakan maka nilai laju korosi akan semakin menurun dan nilai efisiensi inhibisi korosi semakin tinggi. Nilai efisiensi terbesar didapatkan pada penambahan konsentrasi 8 mg untuk medum korosi HCL mencapai 41,61%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa inhibitor dari ekstrak buah tomat sangat efisien dalam mengendalikan laju korosi dalam medium korosif HCL. Dari analisis foto optik morfologi permukaan baja ST 37 memperlihatkan permukaan baja dengan penambahan ekstrak buah tomat mengalami korosi lebih sedikit.

Analysis of controlling the corrosion rate of ST 37 steel in HCL medium using tomato inhibitors (Lycopersicum esculentum) was carried out. The method used is the potentiodynamic method to see the corrosion current, and the weight reduction method to see the value of the corrosion rate. The corrosive used is HCL. Steel is immersed in a corrosive medium using and without inhibitors. The concentration variations used were 0, 4, 6, and 8 mg with 23 hours of immersion time. The type of testing carried out in this analysis is Potentiodynamics and weight loss. The greater the concentration used, the more added value of corrosion and the higher the efficiency of inhibition efficiency. The greatest efficiency value was obtained at a concentration of 8 mg for medum for HCL corrosion reaching 41.61%.
