Abstract
Bagaimana riwayat sebuah sungai yang dulunya menjadi sumber elixir of life
(sumber Amerta), menjadi tulang punggung perekonomian dan perdagangan, namun
fungsi-fungsi tersebut terus berdegradasi sehingga menjadi tempat pembuangan
limbah dan tidak lagi dianggap sebagai sumber kehidupan. Sungai yang akan
perancang bahas adalah Sungai Kalimas Surabaya. Terdapat 9 titik kawasan di Sungai
Kalimas yang menjadi rencana Pemerintah Kota Surabaya untuk merevitalisasi.
Faktanya, hanya 3 titik yang masih ter-revitalisasi. Maka dari itu, perancang memilih
salahsatu kawasan yang masih belum ter-revitalisasi, yaitu kawasan Jembatan Merah
dan sekitarnya.
Berdasarkan data yang didapat berupa hasil survey yang dilakukan oleh Wakil
Rektor UNTAG, bahwa Surabaya berpotensi memiliki wisata air yang juga akan
mendukung program revitalisasi Pemerintah Kota nantinya. Maka dari itu, perancang
akan mendesain wisata air yang terletak di kawasan Jembatan Merah dan sekitarnya.
Desain dari wisata air nantinya desain yang merefleksi bangunan-bangunan
konservasi di Surabaya untuk meningkatkan eksistensi dari kawasan kota lama
Surabaya.

How the history of the river of Surabaya (Kalimas), that once become the elixir
of life, and become the source of income of Surabaya’s people, however, the
functions of Kalimas become worse and worse, finally Kalimas River become a place
to get rid of wastes and animal corpses. In accordance with government of surabaya’s
plan, there are 9 spot in Kalimas river that the government want to change the river to
be waterfront city concept. But the reality is not as good as the government’s plan,
because there are only 3 spot that have been changed into waterfront city concept.
So that is why, the designer choose from the 9 spot that have not been changed
by the government, that is Merah bridge and its surroundings.
Based on data that designer already got (the survey of vice provost’s UNTAG),
that Surabaya has a good potential in the development water recreation. Therefore,
designer will be designing the water recreation of Surabaya placed on Merah bridge
and its surroundings. The design will reflect the surrounding buildings (colonial
building) to increase the existence of historical area of Surabaya, then to activate the
activity of Kalimas river, such as water transportation, and working space.
