Abstract
Terumbu karang merupakan aset penting bagi laut Indonesia karena merupakan daya tarik yang kuat bagi wisatawan. Namun, karena berbagai alasan, terumbu karang tersebut dirusak sehingga mengganggu keseimbangan ekosistem di laut. Masih ada harapan. Usaha pelestarian terumbu karang mulai digalakkan. Bagaimana peran arsitektur dalam hal ini? Arsitektur bukan hanya untuk manusia saja, tapi juga bagi lingkungan tempatnya berada. Arsitektur di sini berperan mewadahi usaha pelestarian terumbu karang yang muncul karena kepedulian terhadap keseimbangan alam. Metode yang digunakan adalah Inquiry by Design. Mengembangkan desain terus-menerus sehingga bisa memenuhi sesuai dengan apa yang dibutuhkan. Dengan demikian, fasilitas ini bisa memberikan opsi bagi masyarakat agar beralih dari kegiatan penambangan karang. Objek rancangan ini juga menjadi sarana ekonomi bagi masyarakat sekitar karena budidaya karang di sini bukan hanya untuk konservasi, tapi juga untuk diperjualbelikan. Selain itu, obyek juga menyajikan sebuah wisata yang bersifat edukatif. Melalui objek rancangan ini, masyarakat setempat dan para wisatawan diajak untuk lebih peduli terhadap terumbu karang dan perannya terhadap ekosistem. Arsitektur di sini memiliki peran dalam kegiatan konservasi, baik terhadap alam maupun kehidupan masyarakat tempatnya berada.

Coral reefs are an important asset for Indonesian marine because it is a strong appeal for tourists. However, for various reasons, coral reefs are destroyed thereby disrupting the balance of the marine ecosystems. There is still hope. Coral reef conservation efforts began in earnest. What is the role of architecture in this case? Architecture is not just for humans, but also for the environment where it resides. Architecture here plays accommodate coral reef conservation efforts that arise because of concern for the balance of nature.
The method used is the Inquiry by Design. Develop designs constantly so that it can fulfill in accordance with what is needed. Thus, this facility could provide an option for people to switch from coral mining activities. The object of this design is also a means for the economy of the society around it because the coral cultivation here not only for conservation, but also for commercial use. In addition, the object is also presenting an educative tour. Through this design object, the local people and tourists are invited to be more concerned about the reef and its role in the ecosystem. Architecture here has a role in the conservation of both the natural and the life of the community where it resides.
