Abstract
Limbah yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan budidaya tambak
udang dapat mengakibatkan kerugian secara ekologis. Hal ini
disebabkan karena limbah tersebut dibuang tanpa mengalami
pengolahan sehingga mencemari badan air, salah satunya di
perairan Gresik. Pengolahan limbah budidaya tambak udang
Parameter kualitas air
yang diukur adalah konsentrasi BOD, COD, DO, amonia (NH3),
nitrat (NO3), dan fosfat (PO4
3-). Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 8
(delapan) minggu mulai dari seeding hingga analisis sampel di
laboratorium.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan penurunan
konsentrasi BOD, COD, amonia, nitrat dan fosfat setelah
pengolahan dengan reaktor biofilter aerob. Efisiensi removal
tertinggi konsentrasi ammonia yang dapat dicapai sebesar 93%,
nitrat 89%, fosfat 68%, BOD 79% dan COD 89% serta
peningkatan konsentrasi DO berkisar antara 0,1 mg/l – 0,8 mg/l.
kinerja biofilter semakin baik.

Wastewater from shrimp aquaculture activities can lead
to ecological loss. This untreated wastewater apparently cause
pollute the water bodies, one of them is the stream in Gresik. In
this research, shrimp aquaculture wastewater treatment which be
used is aerobic biofilter by using Polystyrene (PS) plastic bottles
media. This research aimed to analyze the concentration removal
efficiency of BOD, COD, ammonia (NH3), nitrate (NO3) and
phosphate (PO4
3-) shrimp aquaculture wastewater after the
treatment process and assess the effects of variations the
difference height media and addition of aerators to remove the
concentration of pollutants from the aerobic biofilter reactors.
The variables in this research are the height of the media.
The height of media which be chosen are 30 cm; 37.5 cm and 45
cm and the addition of aerators in biofilter reactors. The selected
parameters are the concentration of BOD, COD, DO, ammonia
(NH3), nitrate (NO3), and phosphate (PO4
3-). This research was
did for 8 (eight) weeks from seeding to the analysis of samples in
the laboratory
Results from this research showed the decrease in
concentration of BOD, COD, ammonia, nitrate and phosphate
after treatment process with aerobic biofilter reactor. The highest
concentration of ammonia removal efficiency which can be
achieved is 93%, 89% for nitrate, 68% for phosphate, 79% for
BOD and 89% for COD and the raise of DO concentration in the
range of 0.1 mg/l - 0.8 mg/l. All the highest removal efficiency is achieved by reactor which has height of media 45 cm and add the
aerators. This shows the influence height of the media to biofilter
performances which higher media show biofilter performances will
better.
