Abstract
Indonesia merupakan Negara kepulauan dengan berjuta potensi. Dengan luas wilayah perairan mencapai 5,8 juta km dan garis pantai mencapai 81.000 km. Indonesia memiliki potensi besar dalam hal pengelolaan kekayaan laut salah satunya adalah kerang. Terlebih industri produk home décor mulai meningkat dan Indonesia menjadi salah satu penyuplai dengan peringkat 27 untuk produk dekorasi ke jerman. Berdasarkan latar belakang dan fenomena di atas, penelitian ini membahas tentang produk home décor dari material kerang dengan kombinasi Concrete material. Penulis memulai penelitian dengan wawancara mendalam dan survei kepada pengrajin kerang yang mempunyai pengalaman lebih dari 10 tahun di daerah bantul Yogyakarta , jawa tengah dan masyarakat Kenjeran untuk mengetahui karakteristik jenis kerang, teknik pengolahan, treatment dan finishing. Penelitian merupakan salah satu pelestarian bisnis lokal di Indonesia, tetapi juga memberikan beberapa solusi alternatif untuk mengoptimalkan nilai fungsional, nilai estetika dan ekonomi dari cangkang kerang. Studi perlakuan material dilakukan dengan eksperimen yaitu eksplorasi ragam pola, eksplorasi teknik cetak cor menggunanakan berbagai macam cetakan dan eksplorasi pewarnaan untuk kulit kerang dan Concrete material. Hasil akhir dari eksplorasi ini diharapkan dapat diterapkan pada desain produk home decor karena terbuat dari material yang unik, sangat berpotensi dikembangkan jadi bisnis yang menguntungkan dan bisa diterapkan untuk kasus sejenis yang lain yaitu : hotel, kantor, rumah makan, dsb.=================================================================================================================================
Indonesia is an archipelago with millions of potential. With an area of waters reaching 5.8 million km and coastline reaching 81,000 km. Indonesia has great potential in terms of marine wealth management, one of which is shellfish. Moreover, the home décor product industry began to increase and Indonesia became one of the suppliers with a rating of 27 for decoration products to Germany. Based on the background and phenomenon above, this study discusses home décor products from shell material with a combination of Concrete material. The author begins the research with in-depth interviews and surveys to shell craftsmen who have more than 10 years experience in the Bantul area of yogyakarta, Central Java and the Kenjeran community to determine the characteristics of shellfish types, processing techniques, treatment and finishing. Research is one of the preservation of local businesses in Indonesia, but also provides several alternatif solutions to optimize the functional, aesthetic and economic value of shells. Material treatment studies were carried out with experiments namely exploration of various patterns, exploration of cast molding techniques using various kinds of molds and exploration of coloring for seashells and Concrete materials. The end result of this exploration is expected to be applied to the design of home decor products because it is made from unique materials, has the potential to be developed into a profitable business and can be applied to other similar cases, namely: hotels, offices, restaurants, etc.
