Abstract
Kalimas (Sungai Mas) adalah denyut nadi utama kehidupan warga Surabaya. Dalam
sejarahnya, Muara Kali Mas merupakan pelabuhan dagang tradisional Surabaya yang telah
digunakan sejak ratusan tahun silam. Selain sisi ekonomi itu, Kalimas juga menyimpan nilai
heroisme tempo dulu.
Semenjak penguasaan VOC, Kalimas menjadi salah satu sarana transportasi air yang
begitu ramai hingga menjulur jauh ke kawasan tengah kota. Karena itu, pertumbuhan kota
masa itu seolah mengikuti denyut kehidupan di Kalimas. Permukiman dan perniagaan
tumbuh pesat di tepi sungai.
Lambat laun setelah masa kemerdekaan Negara Indonesia, sebagian kawasan
Kalimas mulai tak tersentuh pembangunan. Kawasan itu menjadi ditinggalkan hingga
menjadi kumuh. Hal ini terjadi seiring menggeliatnya infrastruktur dan permukiman yang
tersebar di penjuru kota.
Konservasi Area Pelabuhan Sungai Kalimas Surabaya adalah salah satu upaya
menghidupkan kembali Kalimas mendukung salah satu titik potensial revitalisasi Kalimas
sehingga upaya tersebut terintegrasi dengan rencana pemerintah kota. Konservasi terdiri dari
beberapa cara pelestarian yang kemudian diaplikasikan menyesuaikan kebutuhan masyarakat
dan visi Surabaya. Harapannya ke depan secara menyeleruh terintegrasi sepanjang kawasan
sungai Kalimas dan sekitarnya kembali menggeliat, hidup, dan berperan mendorong
pembangunan Surabaya.

Kalimas (Sungai Mas) is the pulse of life for Surabaya citizens. Historically, Muara
Kali Mas Estuary is a traditional trading port of Surabaya that has been used since hundreds
of years ago. In addition to the economic side, Kalimas also store the value of heroism of the
past.
Since the authorization of VOC, Kalimas be one of water transportation that so
crowded to protrude further into the downtown area. Therefore the future growth of the city
seemed to follow the pulse of life in Kalimas. Settlement and commerce grew rapidly on the
riverbank.
Gradually after the independence of the Republic of Indonesia, some areas of
Kalimas untouched construction. The area was to be left until become derelict. This happens
as shoot up of infrastructure and settlements scattered throughout the city.
Kalimas River Port Area Conservation is one of the efforts to revive Kalimas favor
one potential point of revitalization Kalimas so that these efforts are integrated with the city
government's plan. Conservation consists ways of preservation then applied to suit the needs
of society and the vision of Surabaya. Hope for the future thoroughly integrated throughout
the Kalimas River and surrounding active, live and play a role to encourage the development
of Surabaya.
