Abstract
Angka pertumbuhan populasi penduduk Dunia mencapai 75 juta jiwa setiap

The rise of the world’s population hit the number 75 millions hyuman
annually, and it is predicted the world’s population will reach the number of 9.6
Billions people by the end of 2050. The rise of the world’s population would cause
several impacts; one of the most important and crucial impact is Food Crisis. Food
Crisis is a real phenomenon that will be faced by human in the near future if they
don’t prepare well. City is an area that is very dense and has become the center of
most human’s activies, and it would make City as the most fragile and an area ‘in
need’ when facing the global food crisis, as it has the highest demand of food and
other resources. A condition of city that always develops as well as in demographic,
facility, and infrastructure would cause the city to grow denser and develop as
Megacity,in which it will have the highest demand of resources. Surabaya is predicted
to be one of thos Megacities in this mid-century,
When Surbaya has grown as a Megacity in the future, it will face many
challenges including food crisis and other resources crisis. That kind of condition will
make Surabaya needs a particular strategy in order its citizen can survive in the near
future. The Urban Farming phenomenon that has been developed in the last decade
has proves that a crisis and a rise of the city’s demand of food has been experienced
by most of Surabaya’s citizens. While the demand of space will be rising too. The
urban farming trend has been started in many first-world countries, Surabaya, a city
that will be included amongst those Megacities, needs to provide its citizen a real
facility, spce or probably a plce where the citizens can prepare themselves to survive
in the future with independently producing their own food.
