Abstract
Penelitian mengenai pemurnian silika melalui pelarutan menggunakan asam klorida (HCl) dan aqua regia pada abu layang yang berasal dari PT YTL (Paiton) telah dilakukan. Parameter yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah variasi konsentrasi dan waktu pelarutan HCl. Pengaruh pelarutan unsur Fe, Ca, dan Al dari sampel juga diteliti. Kadar Al dan Si dalam sampel dianalisis menggunakan ICP-OES, sedangkan kadar Fe dan Ca dianalisis menggunakan spektrofotometer serapan atom (AAS). Dari hasil XRD abu layang, terkandung mineral quartz, mullite, hematite dan kalsium oksida. Kondisi paling baik pada saat pelarutan sampel adalah menggunakan pelarutan aqua regia, mampu menghasilkan kadar Si sebesar 68,07%, sedangkan kondisi paling baik pelarutan HCl adalah pada konsentrasi HCl 1 M dengan waktu pelarutan 2,5 jam, mampu menghasilkan kadar Si sebesar 34%. Peningkatan konsentrasi HCl akan menurunkan kadar silika yang diperoleh.

A research on purification of silica in fly ash from PT YTL (Paiton) by hydrochloric acid (HCl) and aqua regia leaching had been performed. Variations of concentrations and leaching times of HCl to Fe, Ca, and Al dissolution were examined. Si and Al in the samples were analyzed using ICP-OES, whereas Fe and Ca contents were analyzed using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). XRD characterization showed that fly ash contain quartz, mullite, hematite and calcium oxide. Fly ash leaching by aqua regia, was able to produced Si contents up to 68,07%, while the best condition of fly ash leaching by HCl was at HCl 1 M, for 2.5 hours was able to produced Si contents to 34%. The silica contents were decreased as the hydrochloric acid concentrations increased.
