Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat simulasi kolom
distilasi reaktif dengan pengendali PI serta melakukan optimasi
terhadap proses yang telah berhasil disimulasikan. Etil asetat
merupakan produk esterifikasi dari etanol dan asam asetat dengan
hasil samping berupa air. Sistem azeotrop terbentuk antar
senyawa reaktan, produk, maupun reaktan dengan produk, hal
tersebut menyebabkan produk etil asetat dengan kemurnian yang
tinggi sulit diperoleh. Konfigurasi kolom distilasi reaktif yang
menggabungkan proses reaksi dan pemisahan terbukti dapat
mengatasi permasalahan di atas. Simulasi kolom distilasi reaktif
untuk sintesis etil asetat dilakukan dengan menggunakan software
Aspen PlusTM. Sistem terdiri atas sebuah kolom distilasi reaktif,
decanter, dan kolom stripper. Target kemurnian produk etil asetat
adalah sebesar 99%. Pengendali jenis PI digunakan untuk
menjaga kemurnian produk terjaga pada nilai 99%. Untuk
mengetahui unjuk kerja dari pengendali, sistem diberikan
gangguan berupa perubahan laju alir umpan etanol sebesar ±20%.
Setelah proses dapat dikendalikan dengan baik,
selanjutnya dilakukan optimasi untuk mendapatkan kondisi
operasi yang optimum bagi proses. Real Time Optimization
merupakan pendekatan yang efektif untuk melakukan improvisasi
aspek ekonomi dan mengurangi kebutuhan sumber bahan baku
pada industri kimia maupun petrokimia. Pada penelitian ini
dilakukan evaluasi kinerja sistem distilasi reaktif, dengan
memodifikasi kondisi operasi utilitas sehingga dapat mengurangi biaya operasi untuk memperoleh keuntungan maksimal yang
dilakukan secara kontinu untuk menjaga proses agar tetap
optimal.
Hasil penelitian ini adalah simulasi kolom distilasi reaktif
untuk sintesis etil asetat dengan pengendali PI dan setelah melalui
proses optimasi menggunakan Real Time Optimization di
software Aspen Plus Dynamics mengalami penurunan duty
reboiler Kolom RD sebesar 6% dan untuk Kolom Stripper
sebesar 0,27% dengan kemurnian produk yang meningkat
menjadi 99,548% dari awalnya sebesar 99%

This research aims to create a simulation of reactive
distillation column with a PI controller and perform the
optimization of the process that has been successfully simulated.
Ethyl acetate is a product of the esterification of ethanol and
acetic acid with the byproduct is water. Azeotropic systems is
formed between the compound of reactants, products or reactants
to products, it causes the ethyl acetate product with high purity is
difficult to obtain. Reactive distillation column configuration that
combines reaction and separation processes are proven to solve
the problem. Simulation of reactive distillation column for the
synthesis of ethyl acetate performed using software Aspen PlusTM.
The system consists of a reactive distillation column, decanter and
stripper columns. Target of ethyl acetate purity is 99%. PI
controller are used to maintain product purity at a value of 99%.
To evaluate the performance of the controller, the system is given
the disturbance arising from changes in feed flow rate of ± 20%
ethanol.
After the process adequately controlled, further
optimization to get the optimum operating conditions for the
process. Real Time Optimization is an effective approach to
improvised economic aspects and reduce the need for sources of raw materials in the chemical and petrochemical industries. In this
research, evaluation for reactive distillation systems is performed,
by modifying the operating conditions so that the utility can
reduce operating costs to obtain the maximum benefit that is done
continuously to keep the process at the optimum operation
condition.
The results of this researh are simulated reactive
distillation column for the synthesis of ethyl acetate by the PI
controller and after going through the optimization process using
a Real Time Optimization in software Aspen Plus Dynamics
decreased RD Column reboiler duty of 6% and for Stripper
Column of 0,27% with a product purity which increased to
99,548% from the beginning of 99%
