Abstract
Saat ini di Indonesia mendekati krisis bahan bakar
minyak, dimana stok minyak mentah yang berasal dari fosil
semakin menipis. Di tengah krisis bahan bakar ini, Indonesia
masih memiliki banyak kekayaan sumber hayati, seperti
kelapa sawit, jarak pagar, serta umbi porang yang berpotensi
untuk dapat menghasilkan bahan bakar terbarukan, seperti
biodiesel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat bahan bakar
terbarukan berupa biodiesel dari umbi porang serta
menganalisa kandungan propertiesnya. Selain itu tujuan dari
penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh campuran
biodiesel umbi porang dalam uji peformansi motor diesel.
Metode yang digunakan penulis dalam penelitian ini yaitu
dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen. Hasil yang didapat
membuktikan bahwa umbi porang sangat berpotensi untuk
dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan baku biodiesel. Karateristik
properties biodiesel umbi porang sebagian besar memenuhi
syarat dari standard biodiesel nasional yang telah ditetapkan.
Uji peformansi motor diesel dilakukan dengan menggunakan
100% minyak solar (B0) dan juga dengan campuran biodiesel
umbi porang 10% (B10) dan 20% (B20). Dari hasil uji
peformansi didapatkan hasil bahwa motor diesel mengalami
peningkatan prestasi kerja yang signifikan ketika
menggunakan B0 dengan menggunakan B20 pada putaran

yang sama. Dimana saat menggunakan B20 nilai daya
maksimum, torsi maksimum, dan BMEP maksimum motor
diesel mengalami peningkatan sebesar 12,59%, untuk nilai
dari efisiensi thermalnya juga mengalami peningkatan sebesar
21,49% sedangkan nilai SFOCnya lebih rendah sebesar
15,45%.

When present time in Indonesia oil approaching the fuel
crisis, where a stock of crude becomes thin derived from
fossil. In the middle of the fuel crisis this, Indonesia still has
many biological wealth of, as palm oil, as jatropha, as well as
porang tubers that have the potential to produce renewable
fuel, as biodiesel. This study attempts to make a fuel in the
form of biodiesel renewable from a corm porang and analysis
the content of. In addition the purpose of this study which is
to know mixing influences biodiesel porang tubers in the
performance test of diesel engine. Methods used in this
research is by author uses experimental methods. The result
obtained suggests that tuber porang potential to be used as the
raw material of biodiesel. Properties of biodiesel tuber porang
most qualified of biodiesel national standards set.
Performance test of diesel engine was done using 100 %
diesel oil (B0) and also by biodiesel blend tuber porang 10 %
(B10) and 20 % (B20). From the results of the performance
test obtained the results of that the diesel engine has been an
increase in work performance significant when using B0 by
the use of B20 on the rotation of the same. Where when using
B20, the value of maximum power, maximum torque, and
maximum BMEP diesel engine increased by 12,59%, to the
