Abstract

Minyak pelumas bekas jika dibuang akan menimbulkan
masalah lingkungan yang berbahaya, karena mengandung kotoran
logam-logam dengan kadar yang tinggi, bahan aditif, sisa bahan
bakar dan kotoran lain. Minyak pelumas bekas didaur ulang
melalui proses re-refining untuk mengolah material yang
berguna. Pengolahan minyak bekas meliputi beberapa proses,
salah satunya adalah penghilangan kandungan fraksi berat minyak
pelumas bekas sehingga menjadi lube oil. Kolom distilasi vakum
yang bersinergi dengan Thin-film evaporator adalah salah satu
alat yang sesuai dikarenakan dapat memisahkan senyawa volatil
hingga senyawa yang kurang volatil dalam suatu zat. Thin-film
evaporator menawarkan keuntungan ganda dari waktu tinggal
yang singkat dan perbedaan suhu rendah yang membantu
menjamin kualitas produk yang tinggi ketika produk sensitif
terhadap panas seperti minyak pelumas. Untuk mengatasi
permasalahan diatas maka perlu dilakukan perancangan unit
vakum distilasi disertai thin-film evaporator menggunakan
software Aspen Hysys ® dan Matlab ® untuk mendukung proses
perancangan.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan simulator
distilasi vakum dan thin film evaporator guna memisahkan lube
oil dari fraksi berat minyak pelumas bekas dengan menggunakan
Aspen Hysys ® dan Matlab ®, serta mengetahui kondisi operasi
optimun distilasi vakum dan thin film evaporator guna memisahkan lube oil dari fraksi berat minyak pelumas bekas.
Adapun tahapan penelitian yang telah dilakukan antara lain studi
literatur dan pengumpulan data, pemilihan model termodinamika,
merancang model simulasi menggunakan software Aspen Hysys
® dan Matlab ®, dan menganalisa karakterisitik proses hasil
simulasi dari masing-masing variasi case variabel. Berdasarkan
hasil simulasi didapatkan kondisi operasi optimum terjadi pada
tekanan 0,3 kPa dan suhu feed sebesar 220oC, dimana kemurnian
distilat mencapai 97,93% dan massaa distilat sebesar 1705,39
kg/jam.

Used lube oils will cause harmful problem if disposed
environmentally, because it contains high metal ions with high
concentration, chemical additive, side product of combustion dan
other impurities. Used lube oil is recycled through re-refining
process to produce useful material. Re-refining process of used
lube oil involves several process, one of them is removal of heavy
fraction contain in used lube oils to produce lube oil. Vacuum
distillation column incorporation with thin film evaporation is
appropriate to this process because it can separate volatile
compounds due to less volatile compounds in a substance. Thinfilm evaporator has advantages of both a short residence time and
low temperature differences that can ensure high quality product
for the product with heat-sensitive such as lubricating oil. From
above summary, to overcome such problem, it is necessary to to
design vacuum distillation with thin-film evaporator using Aspen
Hysis ® dan Matlab ® software for support the modeling process.
This experiment is aimed to obtains a simulator of
vacuum distillation and thin-film evaporator for separation of
lube oil from heavy fraction used lube oil using Aspen Hysys®
and Matlab ®, determination the optimum operation condition of
vacuum distillation and thin-film evaporator for separation of
lube oil from heavy fraction contained in used lube oil. The steps
of the research that are conducted: the study of literature and data collection, determining of thermodynamic model, design a model
simulation using software Aspen Hysys ® and Matlab ®,
comparing the result of Hysys and Matlab for thin film evaporator
and anayze the process characteristics of simulation process from
each variation case. Based on simulation result, the optimum
operation condition is at pressure 0,3 kPa and feed temperature
220oC, in which the purity of distillate has reach 97,93% and the
mass of distillate is 1705,39 kg/hour.
