Abstract

Lekukan pipa (elbow section) memiliki potensi kerusakan akibat fenomena korosierosi
internal lebih besar dari pada bagian lurus pipa. Hal tersebut disebabkan karena
aliran fluida pada elbow section mengalami percepatan akibat perubahan arah
penampang alir secara drastis. Semakin tinggi kecepatan aliran fluida yang melewati
dinding dalam sebuah pipa, maka semakin tinggi pula laju korosi-erosi internal pada
pipa tersebut. Korosi-erosi internal dapat menyebabkan penipisan pada dinding dalam
elbow section sehingga pada akhirnya dapat mengakibatkan bencana ledakan pipa saat
beroperasi. Salah satu upaya mengurangi risiko ledakan tersebut adalah dengan
melakukan inspeksi secara berkala. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk menentukan
manajemen inspeksi pada elbow section yang berisiko mengalami kegagalan akibat
korosi-erosi internal. Manajemen inspeksi yang direncanakan berdasarkan pada API
581 Base Resource Document tentang Risk Based Inspection (RBI). Pemodelan aliran
fluida dengan software ANSYS CFX dilakukan untuk mengetahui nilai perubahan
kecepatan lokal aliran fluida pada elbow section. Metode Montecarlo digunakan untuk
menghitung nilai PoF sedangkan metode semi-quantitative RBI digunakan untuk
menentukan likelihood category dan consequence category. Hasil yang didapatkan
adalah keempat elbow section yang dievaluasi masuk kedalam kategori risiko rendah.

Elbow section has greater potential of damage caused by internal corrosion-erosion
phenomenon than the straight section of pipe. This is because the fluid flow in the
elbow section is accelerating due to changes in cross-sectional flow direction
drastically. The higher the flow rate of fluid passing through the inner wall of a
pipe, the higher the rate of internal corrosion-erosion in the pipe. Internal corrosionerosion
can cause thinning of the walls of the elbow section which in turn can lead
to catastrophic burst pipe during operation. One effort to reduce the risk of the
explosion is to perform periodic inspection. This final project aims to determine the
management inspection at the elbow section at risk of failure due to internal
corrosion-erosion. Management planned inspection based on API 581 Base
Resource Document on Risk Based Inspection (RBI). Modeling of fluid flow with
ANSYS CFX software was conducted to determine the value of the local velocity
changes in the fluid flow in the elbow section. Montecarlo method used to calculate
the value PoF while semi-quantitative RBI methods used to determine the
likelihood category and consequence level. The results obtained are evaluated four
elbow section into the low risk category.
