Abstract
Batubara Indonesia pada umumnya didominasi oleh batubara
peringkat rendah yaitu sekitar 60-70% dari total cadangan batubara.
Batubara peringkat rendah mempunyai kandungan air total cukup
tinggi sehingga nilai kalor menjadi rendah. Untuk meningkatkan nilai
kalor batubara dibutuhkan proses pengeringan. Salah satu inovasi
untuk meningkatkan nilai kalor batubara yaitu dengan melakukan
proses pengeringan batubara dengan Gas Nitrogen. Proses
pengeringan ini akan dilakukan di kapal Coal Carrier sebelum
batubara sampai di pelabuhan tujuan. Untuk memasok kebutuhan Gas
Nitrogen diperlukan alat tambahan yaitu Generator Nitrogen. Gas
Nitrogen yang berasal dari Generator tersebut akan dialirkan kepada
setiap ruang palkah kapal dengan temperatur pengeringan 55°C.
Lama waktu pengeringan berlangsung 2 jam selama pelayaran kapal.
Hal tersebut sudah sesuai dengan waktu estimasi dari proses
pengeringan. Metode pengeringan yang digunakan yaitu constant
rate-drying. Setelah proses pengeringan menggunakan Gas Nitrogen
maka kandungan uap air yang terambil yaitu <7,2%.

Indonesian coal is generally dominated by low rank coal
which is about 60-70% of the total coal reserves. Low rank coal
moisture content is high enough so that the total calorific value is
low. To increase the calorific value of coal required drying process.
One of the innovations to increase the calorific value of coal is the
coal drying process with Nitrogen Gas. The drying process will be
conducted in the vessel Coal Carrier before the coal to the port of
destination. Nitrogen Gas to supply the required additional
equipment is required Nitrogen Generator. Nitrogen gas coming from
the generator will be supplied to every cargo tank ship with drying
temperature 55°C. It is in accordance with the estimated time of the
drying process. The drying time takes 2 hours during cruise ships.
Drying method used is the constant rate-drying. After the drying
process using Nitrogen gas, then drawn moisture content is <7,2%.
