Abstract

Cangkang kapsul telah dibuat dengan bahan dasar kitosan larut air dan agar-agar dengan penambahan sodium dodesil sulfat (SDS). Kitosan larut air dan agar-agar yang digunakan yaitu dengan perbandingan 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, dan 6:1 (w/w) dan sodium dodesil yang ditambahkan yaitu konsentrasi 0,08% sebanyak 5 mL. Kitosan larut air diperoleh dari proses depolimerisasi kitosan melalui metode hidrolisis dengan H2O2. Cangkang kapsul dikarakterisasi melalui beberapa pengujian yaitu FTIR, kelarutan, rilis obat, degradasi, derajat swelling, dan keseragaman bobot. Spektra FTIR pada cangkang kapsul menunjukkan adanya vibrasi dari molekul-molekul penyusun kitosan, agar dan SDS. Uji keseragaman bobot menunjukkan bahwa seluruh cangkang kapsul hasil penelitian lolos standar keseragaman bobot yang ditetapkan oleh Farmakope Indonesia. Cangkang kapsul WSC:agar-agar + SDS 0,08% (2:1) memiliki keseragaman bobot yang paling baik yaitu sebesar 0,590%. Uji kelarutan berdasarkan standar Farmakope menunjukkan seluruh cangkang kapsul tidak lolos uji kelarutan.

The capsule shell has been made with the basic ingredients of water soluble chitosan and agar-agar with the addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). Water soluble chitosan and agar-agar used are in the ratio of 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, and 6:1 (w/w) and sodium dodecyl added is 0,08% concentration of 5 mL. Water soluble chitosan was obtained from the depolymerization process of chitosan through hydrolysis method by H2O2. The capsule shell was characterized by several tests which are FTIR, solubility, drug release, degradation, swelling degree, and weight uniformity. The FTIR spectra in the capsule shell show the vibrations of the chitosan, agar and SDS molecules. The weight uniformity test shows that all of the capsule shell from this research passed the weight uniformity standard by the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia. Capsule shell with compotition WSC:agar-agar + 0.08% SDS (2:1) show the best weight uniformity, which are 0.590%. The solubility test based on the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia Standart did not pass the solubility test.
