Abstract

Korosi sangat merugikan, oleh karena itu ada beberapa cara untuk mencegahnya. Salah satunya adalah dengan menambahkan inhibitor. Obat atorvastatin digunakan sebagai inhibitor karena adanya senyawa antioksidan yang dapat menghambat laju korosi pada baja karbon rendah di media HCl. Baja karbon rendah dgunakan dalam penelitian ini karena mempunyai kekuatan dan machinability yang baik Pada penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah tafel polarisasi dan eis. Hasil uji polarisasi pada pH 1 laju korosi terendah pada hari ke-5 yaitu sebesar 0,075 mmpy dengan efisiensi sebesar 94,361% sedangkan pada pH 5 laju korosi terendah pada hari ke-4 yaitu sebesar 0,006 mmpy dengan efisiensi sebesar 95,804% Mekanisme kerja inhibitor obat atorvastatin adalah secara mixing inhibitor lebih mengarah katodik merupakan jenis inhibitor campuran (mixed inhibitor) serta melibatkan adsorpsi fisika (fisisorpsi) antara permukaan sampel dengan inhibitor.

Corrosion is very detrimental, therefore there are several ways to prevent it. One way is to add inhibitors. Atorvastatin drug is used as an inhibitor because of the presence of antioxidant compounds that can inhibit the rate of corrosion in low carbon steel in HCl media. Low carbon steel is used in this study because it has good strength and machinability. In this study the method used is polarization and eis tafel. Polarization test results at pH 1, the lowest corrosion rate on the 5th day is 0.075 mmpy with an efficiency of 94.361%, while at pH 5 the lowest corrosion rate on the 4th day is 0.006 mmpy with an efficiency of 95.804%. The mechanism of action of atorvastatin inhibitors is mixing inhibitors but more cathodic, and involves physical adsorption (physisorption) between the surface of the sample and the inhibitor.
