Abstract

One of the industry that has a business area with high market demand is the gold mining industry, so the company often has to exceed its production targets to supply these demands. To support production output in large quantities, companies must be able to make the process more efficient by reducing waste problems that hinder the production process. Based on preliminary observations, these problems include waste defects in the form of choke ore materials, mismatches of dore bullion printing, and equipment damage. In addition, there is waste overproduction and waiting. Waste waiting is caused by the existence of ponding during leaching. Then there are waste overprocessing and transportation in the form of the distance of ore transportation that changes and far away. The occurrence of the wastes can be reduced or eliminated by using a Lean approach. Lean is a method to streamline processes by eliminating / reducing waste in the mining process. Identifying waste using the Waste Assessment Model (WAM) tools consist of WRM and WAQ. The result of WRM analysis is defect with a percentage of 17.24% which is the most influential waste to other waste. While the results of the WAQ analysis are the highest waste rating, namely defect, motion, waiting, and process with the highest percentage of success, namely 20.75%, 18.42%, 17.57%, and 14.36%. From these results then recommendations for improvements that can be proposed to reduce waste that has a high rating include, among others, using Kamishibai control board tools to control the size and composition of ore size mixing, using TPM tools to reduce waste waiting by increasing the working efficiency of the crusher, optimizing performance maintenance, making dore bullion molds in a parallel or non-stacked shape and regulating the flowrate of the gold solution to the mold to reduce waste defects that are incompatible with dore bullion prints, as well as making standardized work in the irrigation process.
