Abstract
Kapal merupakan bagian penting dari kehidupan manusia, terutama dalam bidang transportasi laut. Industri perkapalan di Indonesia telah berkembang dengan pesat, ditandai dengan berdirinya galangan-galangan kapal di Indonesia. Tahap awal dalam proses pembuatan kapal adalah menentukan ukuran dan parameter bentuk kapal. Bersamaan dengan hal tersebut terdapat faktor penting yang berhubungan dengan performa kapal, yaitu tahanan kapal. Kesalahan perhitungan tahanan kapal dapat berdampak buruk terhadap performa kapal dan juga para stakeholder kapal. Salah satu metode statistika yang memungkinkan untuk memprediksi tahanan kapal berdasarkan pengujian tahanan model kapal, yaitu analisis regresi. Pemilihan metode regresi sangat diperlukan karena metode yang tepat akan menghasilkan prediksi yang tepat juga. Pemilihan metode regresi dipengaruhi oleh kondisi data penelitian, seperti terpenuhi atau tidaknya asumsi-asumsi klasik meliputi multikolinieritas, distribusi normal, autokorelasi, dan homoskedastisitas. Hasil pengujian asumsi menunjukan asumsi multikolinieritas dan distribusi normal tidak dapat terpenuhi yang mengarahkan pada penggunaan metode regresi robust ridge.

Ships are an important part of human life, especially in the field of sea transportation. The shipping industry in Indonesia has grown rapidly, marked by the massive establishment of shipyards in Indonesia. The initial stage in the shipbuilding process is to determine the size and parameters of the ship's shape. Along with this, there is an important factor related to the performance of the ship, which is ship’s resistance force. Mistakes in calculating ship’s resistance force can adversely affect the ship performance and the clients. Statistical method that allows to predict resistance based on resistance testing data in towing tank, is defined as regression analysis. The selection of regression methods is very necessary because the right method will produce the right predictions too. The selection of proper regression method is in accordance with the conditions of the study, such as being fulfilled to classics regression assumption, like collinearity, normal distribution, autocorrelation, and homoskedasticity. The assump-tion test results show that collinearity and normal distribution cannot be fulfilled, yet using the robust ridge regression method is the best choice to handle it.
