Abstract

Adsorpsi ion Cd2+ dalam larutan menggunakan karbon aktif yang
terbuat dari biji trembesi telah dilakukan. Biji trembesi (Samanea
saman) dikarbonisasi dan diaktivasi dengan asam fosfat (H3PO4)
untuk mengurangi kadar ion Cd2+ dalam larutan. Adsorpsi
dilakukan dengan metode batch dengan 2 g/L karbon aktif untuk
mengetahui pH dan waktu kontak optimum. Hasil yang diperoleh
yaitu pH optimum proses adsorpsi ion Cd2+ terjadi pada pH 7
dengan jumlah ion Cd2+ yang teradsorpsi sebesar 97,11%.
Kemudian, waktu kontak optimum dicapai pada menit ke 90
dengan jumlah ion Cd2+ yang teradsorpsi sebesar 88,72%. Proses
adsorpsi pada penelitian ini mengikuti model kinetika orde satu
semu dengan nilai k sebesar 2,1261 menit-1.

Adsorption of Cd2+ ions from the aqueous solution by activated
carbon derived from Samanea saman seed has been investigated.
Samanea saman seed were carbonised and activated treatment with
phosporic acid (H3PO4) to remove Cd2+ ions from solutions. Batch
adsorption experiments were conducted to observe the effect of pH
and contact time on the 2 g/L of activated carbon. The optimum pH
for adsorption of Cd2+ ions was observed in pH 7 with 97,11%
removal of Cd2+ ions. Subsequently, the optimum contact time was
achieved at 90 min with 88,72% removal of Cd2+ ions. Adsorption
processes were found to follow pseudo first orde rate model with k
value 2,1261 min-1.
