Abstract

Masalah kesehatan pernapasan sangat penting bagi manusia. Penyakit pernapasan dapat diidentifikasi melalui penilaian kinerja dan kesehatan paru-paru. Spirometri penting sebagai tes diagnostik kesehatan pernapasan. Spirometer adalah peralatan yang digunakan untuk tes fungsi paru-paru dasar untuk mengukur volume udara yang terlibat dalam respirasi. Dalam upaya mengembangkan teknologi, sensor serat optik telah mendapatkan perhatian di dunia medis karena sifatnya yang ringan, berukuran kecil, memiliki sensitivitas yang tinggi, dan kekebalan terhadap gangguan elektromagnetik. Serat optik berstruktur SMS merupakan konfigurasi yang relatif mudah difabrikasi dan murah. Penelitian ini mengusulkan serat optik berstruktur SMS sebagai spirometer dan berdasarkan hasilnya serat optik SMS dapat digunakan sebagai spirometer dengan memanfaatkan sensitivitasnya terhadap perubahan laju aliran udara untuk mengukur kapasistas vital dan laju aliran dari paru-paru. Karakteristik sensor serat optik SMS adalah sebagai berikut, yaitu dapat mengukur laju aliran dalam rentang 0-14.703 L/s dan memiliki error rata-rata 1.65% atau 36,49 ml. Karakteristik sensor ini memenuhi syarat standarisasi spirometri untuk digunakan sebagai spirometer.

Respiratory health problems are very important issues worldwide. Respiratory diseases can be identified through performance and lung health assessments. Spirometry is important as a diagnostic test for respiratory health. A spirometer is the equipment used for basic lung function tests to measure the volume of air involved in respiration. To develop technology further, optical fiber sensors have received attention in the medical world because of they are lightweight, small, have high sensitivity, and immunity to electromagnetic interference. SMS (singlemode-multimode-singlemode) structure optical fiber is a configuration that is relatively easy to fabricate and inexpensive. This study proposes that the optical fiber structure of SMS as a spirometer and based on its results the SMS optical fiber can be used as a spirometer by utilizing its sensitivity to changes in air flow rate to measure vital capacity and flow rate from the lungs. The characteristics of the SMS fiber optic sensor are that it can measure flow rate within the range of 0-14,703 L / s and has an average error of 1.65% or 36.49 ml. The characteristics of the fiber optic sensor meet the requirements determined by the standardization of spirometry to be used as a spirometer.
